Small, upscale hotel near Mission Bay with free breakfast and Wi-Fi
La Quinta Inn Ste San Diego Mission Bay is located in San Diego's Pacific Beach neighborhood, only one mile from Mission Bay Park. The property underwent significant renovations in 2009 and 2010, including new furniture in all guest rooms and a complete overhaul of the on-site fitness center. All guests receive a complimentary hot breakfast buffet and free Wi-Fi and high-speed Internet access. Close to beaches
Perfect location for visiting the beaches, the zoo, etc. We did some college visits and it was in a good location for that also.

Family friendly
The Holiday Inn Express/Mission Bay was a family friendly hotel which was a good value for the money. A free continental breakfast was provided everyday in a cozy dining area. The room was clean, although the bed was very hard. I awoke with a backache the following morning. There were many families staying at the hotel but it was still quiet. There was a nice fenced pool and spa with a small fitness center near the pool. The hotel had very tight parking spaces which were difficult to manuever and parking was inadequate for the size of hotel. There was a day labor employment center located nearby which made the area not very desireable with many men waiting on the street.

Sightseeing tip:
Short drive from hotel
SeaWorld was located approximately two miles from the hotel and the San Diego Zoo was a short drive on the freeway. After some searching, we located a shopping center about 1 1/2 miles down the road. This provided restaurants, retail stores and a pharmacy.

good value for your money
The Holiday Inn Express Mission Bay was a good choice for the thrifty traveler. The rooms were clean and well maintained. The staff at the hotel was very friendly and accomadating. The breakfast buffet was very filling, there were many choices and the food was hot and very fresh. One thing that we did not like about this hotel was the location. It would have been difficult to get to if not for our navigational system. There were not any restaurants close enough to walk to, so it was neccesary to always take your car. Parking at this hotel is not the best. Spaces are limited and the size of the parking spaces are extreamly small! Good luck if you have a large SUV. Overall for the price it was a good value. Next time we will however look for something a little closer to the beaches.

shopping was easy to get to...the broken yolk cafe is great for breakfast and 5 minutes away.

Decent
If your not to picky the Holiday Inn Express is a great spot. The neighborhood isn't the best but I wouldn't say its unsafe either. The hotel was nice ,Staff was courteous ,and the rooms where clean. Not five star but great for a fast weekend get away.
