Great Views!

This hotel has wonderful views of the water and is in a nice exclusive location. I was not surrounded by a lot of people because it is on the island! Thank you!

The "no amenties" hotel

Parking was seriously overpriced. Then was charged for parking when I was parking down the street and walking 1/2 mi to room. Also, was not notified of needing to pay for parking when checking in, luckily my partner asked. Advertised breakfast, but there was none. The location was good. Easy to get downtown, airport and outlying areas. Seemed safe for walking, running, etc.

Secluded Getaway

The hotel was well-equipped, self-sufficient, and blessed with water views all around. I didn't expect the relative distance from town, but it's a nice quiet getaway.

Nightlife tip: Short drive from hotel

The San Diego Gaslamp area is a target-rich environment for restaurants, pubs, clubs, and hip urban shopping.

Great views

The location was close to everything and I enjoyed having the view of the bay and downtown San Diego on one side and the Marina on the other side. Unfortunately, I was not able to take advantage of the dining room, spa or pool, as I did not spend much time at Kona Kai. Instead, I was kept busy sightseeing and working in town.

Comfortable and relaxing

The Kona Kai staff made for an excellent trip. I was there on business and didn't have much time to play but the staff shuttled me to and from my conference with a smile on their face. The bartender was also a pleasure to meet and talk to. But the thing that made this trip was the spa services. I highly recommend this hotel if you come to San Diego!

Dining tip: Long walk from hotel

Miguel's Mexican Restaurant was fantastic. Also, Umi Sushi was very good. Both are a long walk along the beach from the hotel.
