Disappointed in San Diego
Disappointment followed with disgust!
I was very disgusted with the hotel. The comforters were torn with large stain spots on them. The bathroom door from bottom up was peeling and cracking. I booked a package that included breakfast, however they charged my children for their breakfast meals. I would not book this hotel again! I am so disappointed [...]

Don't
Room smelled musty. Shabby. Loud party made it impossible to sleep. Clerk was rude. No room service because "too late." I have stayed at Super 8's that were much nicer.

It was o.k.
We just needed a place to spend the night. We came in late and had already eaten. I didn't see a place to eat but there must have been a restarant because they had room service. The beds were comfortable and had new bedding. There were 2 phones in the room. Thank God because one didn't work. There was a beeping in the room that I could not find and it kept me awake all night. I would stay there again if I were going to arrive early enough to have them find the beeping noise.

Location great, service OK, carpet a little run-down/stained. Overall, a decent stay for the price.

Great spot on Shelter Island
Just two nights and didn't get to enjoy amenities but the restaurant was good, nice bar and outside patio with a view of the marina. Room was very nice, clean and comfy. Pool looked great and even a small beach. They were working on upgrading carpets and paint in several areas, too.

Not a huge Vegas fan
Not worth the money!
This hotel was an extreme disappointment. It was advertised as a Hawaii-like experience. It was, however, not anything like Hawaii. The hotel is older and not in pristine condition. Our room had old water spots on the ceiling where there must have been flooding in the past. Our bed sagged horribly making it one of the most miserable night's sleep I have had in a long time. The dining room did not have alot of choices for food. It was not served hot. I don't feel this hotel is worth the money. There are other equally priced hotels that are probably worth the money.

A gem of a location at a reasonable pric
Of our San Diego trip to visit dear friends, the secondary purpose was to be near the water. Situated at San Diego Bay, the Kona Kia exceeded our expectations. Having only 2 views, Harbor or Bay, it was a definite win/win. We selected the Bay view, but with the harbor only a few steps away we easily enjoyed watching the boat and ship traffic at each location. While sitting on our balcony, an unexpected surprise!! A magnificent Tall Masted Sailing Ship passed by, under sail, as it left the Bay. We are certain that will be an everlasting memory for us. The hotel restaurant has a wonderful harbor view and enjoying a leisurely breakfast on their patio is peacefully fantastic. We not only were able to admire the vessels but we had a small insight as their days activity began. Seeing our Dear friends, combined with staying at the Kona Kia, made for a wonderfully refreshing trip and everlasting memories.
