Harbor view setting
You can 't get a better view and location in San Diego. The hotel is not too far from the airport. The grounds and hotel room were immaculate. My only "con" would be the distance to find stores and cheap restaurants neaby.

Fairly close to the Gaslamp quarter, only a few minutes away by car, so that's pretty awesome.

While the location for this hotel is spectacular, the rest of the "package" is only average. Everything is expensive...parking is $15/day, no complimentary anything! Rooms are very small and dated. The staff was not out-going or helpful when something was needed. I don't know that our family would stay here again.

Nice stay.
It is a very nice hotel. I have stayed a couple times because it has a great location, right on Shelter Island with great walking and views. Could use some new pillows and provide more then 2 per bed. Used the computer and printer in business center at hotel was not happy with the cost for spending 4 minutes on computer especially since the internet runs slow, and print 1 sheet of paper.

Great views and location is great to downtown, airport, Sea World, Cabrillo National Monument, many great place and the hotel is right in the middle of everything.

A decent hotel. Great location. The rest was just average - not for any fault of the management or staff, but it just doesn't feel like a special get-away spot - more like an average hotel you could find anywhere.

Better than expected
I was extremely nervous after reading other reviews but I found many were unfounded. The facility was well-kept and high quality. The location was excellent. I would have paid more for this type of location.

Hotel, was fine! I felt a bit isolated on the grounds of hotel. We shared an a joining room with other family members. Quiet area, parking was an additional fee, and if you don't have a food voucher - breakfast at hotel pricey $$$, beautiful water view though, The family wanted to get to Balboa Park, we did and easy drive from Kona Kai Resort Hotel.

Get food voucher. The refridgerator in rooms was a blessing. Coffee pot available - I'm a coffee snob bring your own coffee and water. I noticed a taste about it!

Hotel was nice, staff was awesome but the room seemed a little cramped. 2 queen beds in a room that was made for maybe 1 king. view was outstanding, but they spring a $15.00 a day parking fee at check out which caught us off guard and we had some sort of winged ant or something under my sons covers and in the drawer.
