Sprawling luxury near shores of Mission Bay with spa and water slides
The Hyatt Regency occupies prime real estate along the shores of Mission Bay, giving guests panoramic views of the water at every turn. The property, renovated in 2010, consists of three separate buildings that flank three outdoor pools. The luxury hotel also boasts a full-service marina and an eco-friendly spa. The on-site restaurant, Red Marlin Restaurant, Bar and Terrace, specializes in fresh-catch seafood and, of course, tropical drinks.Highlights
- Eco-friendly spa
- Child-friendly water slides land in three pools
- Soak up breathtaking views of Mission Bay
- On-site restaurant specializes in fresh-catch seafood
Rooms
The Hyatt Regency offers 429 rooms and 12 suites. Accommodations vary in size and configuration but come standard with balcony or patio, flat-screen TV, Hyatt Grand Bed, iHome docking station and in-room safe. Wi-Fi and high-speed Internet access is available (fees apply) and all guests receive complimentary nightly turndown service.
Features
The Hyatt Regency Mission Bay completed a $65-million renovation in early 2010, during which the pools, guest rooms and meeting rooms were revamped. The property is now the only hotel in San Diego with multiple water slides into its pools.
All guests have complimentary access to the 24-hour StayFit Gym fitness center, which boasts the latest cardiovascular and free weight equipment. Guests can also book massages at the Blue Marble Spa, an eco-friendly spa that uses only organic products during treatments and serves only organic foods to customers while they wait.
Grab a fish taco and a margarita at the Red Marlin Restaurant, Bar and Terrace, a modern restaurant in the hotel lobby. The restaurant specializes in fresh-catch seafood--it's a good bet your entrée was swimming in Mission Bay shortly before you arrived.

DO NOT STAY HERE!
Bell boys storm you when get to the hotel like vulchers to take your stuff to your room. Business center charges $6 per 15 minutes and $.49 for b/w and $1.49 for color.... Bottle of water in the room $4.95. Chicken sandwich $16. WIFI in the rooms $9.99 for a day. Parking is $20 a day and $25 a day for valet. The restaurant overcharged our c/c. The server must have thought we wouldn't have noticed an extra couple of dollars taken off our c/c for her tipping pleasure. It was our honeymoon, and I thought I made that clear before we arrived and not one hotel staff did anything to congratulate us. Hotel staff was very snooty. The conceirge service has no clue what the hell is going on in their neighbor hoods. They are just 16 year old kids that have no clue! Just keep in mind, this hotel did $65 million dollars in updates, and your gonna get stuck with the bill. Would I stay here again......[*] NO! You wanna stay somewhere for the same amount of money and be treated like Kings and Queens, try a Ritz Carleton. They know what customer service is. So, how did I get around this mess....easy. Don't use the bell boys, go to Target and buy a case of water and snacks. Do your homework before you get to the hotel (i.e. what to do in San Diego). Order in, there is like 25 restaurants that deliver. If you face the ocean, you can pick-up WIFI from the Mission Beach Park, for $15 dollars a week, keep every receipt until it is moved from pending to charged, breakfast restaurants are a dime a dozen on Highway 8 and very cheap, and finally how did I get around the parking charge......they forgot to charge me, LOL. Take that Hyatt!

Help! I Have a 5 y/o
Mixed Bag
Positives - rooms were big and ours had a great view of the bay. We enjoyed the small balcony and could hear the harbor seals at night. Close to Sea World, Mission Bay and freeway access. Plenty of storage. Beautiful grounds and pools. Negatives - the furniture was disgusting - covered in various stains with torn and mismatched cushions. I would not even consider sitting on it and would have to wash my hands after using the pullout bed. Asked to have it replaced, but they could only change the cushions - with ones that looked just as bad. Carpets were so dirty that white socks turned brown after walking on the carpet. Bath tub had been reglazed and the glazing had worn off the middle third of the tub showing the prior color. Such a disapointment - the Hyatt in Anaheim was great - no issues. This property needs serious help. The front desk was very nice and refunded the $20 per/day for parking to help make up for the problems. Front desk said that they are aware of the situation, but said that they attract a college crowd that really doesn't care about the condition of the rooms. Hopefully they will fix some of the rooms and leave the remainder for the college crowd.

Great - if you don't like sleeping.
GREAT location, 5 minutes from Sea World, 20 minutes from sea port village, but that's about it. We were kept up all weekend by the club music from the outdoor bar and the lovely drunks staggering through the hallways. Far from a family vacation. Also, they charge $20 for self parking and an outrageous valet fee. You can't avoid valeting on the weekend if an event is taking place due to the limited self parking area. Room service prices were also obscene and I LOVE breakfast in bed, but $15.00 for pancakes just wasn't worth it. Don't look to closely and the decor and bathrooms you might get the feeling you paid good money to stay at a Motel 6.

noisy all night
There was a stopped drain in the room next door. For over an hour someone attempted to snake the drain. It sounded like they were trying to saw the pipes in half at midnight. Then someone yellead at his friends across the courtyard for another half hour. The next morning our sink had backed up as well with sewage and the whole room smelled horrible. I complained and the hotel gave me free parking.

Alright
Stayed for four nights in one of the ocean front suites. The room was nice and the bed was comfortable. Everything had been updated except for the tub. It was tiny and the bottom layer of the tub was peeling up. The prices for parking in room dining and movies was insane. The food except for the dessert was good. I wouldn't stay here again or recommend it. Over priced for what it is

Meh
The pools were nice, the people were friendly. The restaurant on site was ok, but WAY overpriced for what you got. The renovations were nice in the lobby and the pool area, but our room still had an old air conditioner. The room never got cool. The only breakfast onsite is either at the overpriced restaurant or at the Einstein bagel on the boardwalk, there wasn't even a continental. Not the best for young (0-1 year) kids. There were no blackout drapes in the room which is not good if you have a young child that needs to take naps. The road outside is noisy and the windows let in a LOT of noise. We thought by paying a little more for the Hyatt name, we would have a better room than this. Next time we will go with a Holiday Inn or something like that.
