Sprawling luxury near shores of Mission Bay with spa and water slides
The Hyatt Regency occupies prime real estate along the shores of Mission Bay, giving guests panoramic views of the water at every turn. The property, renovated in 2010, consists of three separate buildings that flank three outdoor pools. The luxury hotel also boasts a full-service marina and an eco-friendly spa. The on-site restaurant, Red Marlin Restaurant, Bar and Terrace, specializes in fresh-catch seafood and, of course, tropical drinks.
Highlights
  • Eco-friendly spa
  • Child-friendly water slides land in three pools
  • Soak up breathtaking views of Mission Bay
  • On-site restaurant specializes in fresh-catch seafood
Rooms

The Hyatt Regency offers 429 rooms and 12 suites. Accommodations vary in size and configuration but come standard with balcony or patio, flat-screen TV, Hyatt Grand Bed, iHome docking station and in-room safe. Wi-Fi and high-speed Internet access is available (fees apply) and all guests receive complimentary nightly turndown service.

Features

The Hyatt Regency Mission Bay completed a $65-million renovation in early 2010, during which the pools, guest rooms and meeting rooms were revamped. The property is now the only hotel in San Diego with multiple water slides into its pools.

All guests have complimentary access to the 24-hour StayFit Gym fitness center, which boasts the latest cardiovascular and free weight equipment. Guests can also book massages at the Blue Marble Spa, an eco-friendly spa that uses only organic products during treatments and serves only organic foods to customers while they wait.

Grab a fish taco and a margarita at the Red Marlin Restaurant, Bar and Terrace, a modern restaurant in the hotel lobby. The restaurant specializes in fresh-catch seafood--it's a good bet your entrée was swimming in Mission Bay shortly before you arrived.

Hyatt Regency Mission Bay Over Rated

We were very surprised to get to reception with our car and be asked for $20 for one night parking. Also, [...] offered a $50 food credit but the hotel never heard of the credit but accepted our print out. The fancy restaurant is old and very cold. The pasta came out so spicy neither of us could eat it - they did make it again but how ever heard of spicy pasta

Beautiful and great location

The hotel itself was very nice and located right on the ocean. The rooms were nice and the staff very friendly. My only complaints are that there is not enough parking spaces for the rooms they have and my A/C did not work. My sleep was poor as a result, luckily it was in San Diego and not Mojave.

good hotel

My son enjoyed the pool. We went there in the second week of Sep, little windy and no sun, so the pool water is cold, even it is heated pool.

Good getaway destination

My husband and I arrived right after Labor Day weekend. I had called ahead to make sure we could check-in early, but they couldn't confirm it until we showed up. Fortunately, we could check-in early, but the first room we went to was a room for customers on wheelchairs, with a high toilet seat and low, not so clean bathtub. So we called the reception and were moved to a much better room with cleaner shower booth and a wonderful view. The sunset from the balcony was lovely. The room service stops at 10pm, but you can go to the bar next to the pools and take drinks/food out 'til late. The pools were open early, which worked out since I could enjoy swimming/relaxing before families with kids started showing up for the water slides which open a little later at 10am. It's not too far from downtown either, so we had dinner in Gaslamp Quarter. I would go back there for a weekend trip.

Dining tip: Short walk from hotel

There aren't many shops around, but there is a cafe/snack place on premise. You can get coffee in the morning, and chips/candy bar all day.

Great Pool, Great Place, Great Price

The hotel was accommodating, for the most part clean, I mean a hotel is a hotel, but the bed was super comfy and huge. I had a great stand alone room that had its own awesome porch that was right next to the pool. The walk up and down the harbor is gorgeous.....it really is a fantastic place.

They say that check in is 4, however I got there at 12 and they had a room waiting for me. If they dont have a room they will let you go to the pool until one is ready.

Very nice!

We had an awesome room in the tower with a great view. The balcony was small but nice and looked out at the marina. One of our night was a little windy outside and you could really hear it blow thru the sliding door. Other than that, no complaints. The two on site restaurants we ate at were overpriced for the amount and quality of the food. The pools looked great but we didnt get a chance to swim in them. The boat shuttle to Sea World was real cool. We had a great stay.

On the bay

Great location. Easy walk to Seaworld. Great pool. Small room, little to no storage. Odd shower. tiny bathroom counter, tiny closet. The only restaurants nearby were pricy.
