Sprawling luxury near shores of Mission Bay with spa and water slides
The Hyatt Regency occupies prime real estate along the shores of Mission Bay, giving guests panoramic views of the water at every turn. The property, renovated in 2010, consists of three separate buildings that flank three outdoor pools. The luxury hotel also boasts a full-service marina and an eco-friendly spa. The on-site restaurant, Red Marlin Restaurant, Bar and Terrace, specializes in fresh-catch seafood and, of course, tropical drinks.
Highlights
  • Eco-friendly spa
  • Child-friendly water slides land in three pools
  • Soak up breathtaking views of Mission Bay
  • On-site restaurant specializes in fresh-catch seafood
Rooms

The Hyatt Regency offers 429 rooms and 12 suites. Accommodations vary in size and configuration but come standard with balcony or patio, flat-screen TV, Hyatt Grand Bed, iHome docking station and in-room safe. Wi-Fi and high-speed Internet access is available (fees apply) and all guests receive complimentary nightly turndown service.

Features

The Hyatt Regency Mission Bay completed a $65-million renovation in early 2010, during which the pools, guest rooms and meeting rooms were revamped. The property is now the only hotel in San Diego with multiple water slides into its pools.

All guests have complimentary access to the 24-hour StayFit Gym fitness center, which boasts the latest cardiovascular and free weight equipment. Guests can also book massages at the Blue Marble Spa, an eco-friendly spa that uses only organic products during treatments and serves only organic foods to customers while they wait.

Grab a fish taco and a margarita at the Red Marlin Restaurant, Bar and Terrace, a modern restaurant in the hotel lobby. The restaurant specializes in fresh-catch seafood--it's a good bet your entrée was swimming in Mission Bay shortly before you arrived.

nice, hotel, but not the best

Although this hotel is pretty nice, it is not worth the price. We stayed in the oceanfront suites and the bed was not very comfortable. When we got back to our room it was left unlocked by the cleaning people. Also there is a really nice hotel literally down the street for basically the same price called paradise spa at mission bay. It is incredible

Fuuuuuun!

Cabanas with fire pits and complimentary s'more kits, multiple water slides and heated pools, great waterfront dining and poolside lounge options, bike/boat rentals, and a resort style layout brought this hotel to the top of my list of favorites. As a constant business traveler but also a single twenty something looking for fun options (and tired of staying in hotels that feel like your grandma's parlor), the Hyatt had everything I wanted.

A pleasant, resort-style hotel,

A pleasant, resort-style hotel, located in the picture-oerfect Mission Bay area of weather-perfect San Diego (at least when I was there in January). Staff were friendly and helpful. The location will suit those who want to relax, but if you have business in downtown San Diego, choose a hotel that is better connected to the transport routes.

Beaches and bay were beautiful, immaculate, close by. Take a walk or rent a bike. Del Mar and La Jolla are worth the short drive. Travel the shoreline wherever possible. We enjoyed the SD Zoo Safari Park.(AKA wild animal park).

Our Mission Bay Stay

This is a lovely hotel. Very modern, chic, and elegant! We were upgraded to a beautiful view facing the pool and bay, upon arrival. We really liked the place. The only bad thing we can say is that we were placed on a lower floor (4th) that could hear people partying outside at the bar, late into each night( like around 1 to 3 AM. for those that came outside to smoke cigarettes, and since smoking is not allowed inside the bar or restaurants (California law) it became a bit of a nuisance. We had to call the front dest and ask them to send security over to ask them to quiet down. I suggest you request either request an upper floor, so as not to be disturbed by the noise or bring ear plugs with you. Otherwise, the hotel is absolutely lovely and has the most gorgeous view of the water and exquisite sunsets!

Afew Surprises

I did not look up the location of this Hyatt and just assumed it was the one downtown-so it was a bit disappointing at first. Then I learned it would be $20.00 nightly parking-which really surprised me since I was not "downtown". The room was clean and quiet and I am sure the outdoor pool would be great in warmer weather. There was not an indoor pool which also burst my bubble.
