Sprawling luxury near shores of Mission Bay with spa and water slides
The Hyatt Regency occupies prime real estate along the shores of Mission Bay, giving guests panoramic views of the water at every turn. The property, renovated in 2010, consists of three separate buildings that flank three outdoor pools. The luxury hotel also boasts a full-service marina and an eco-friendly spa. The on-site restaurant, Red Marlin Restaurant, Bar and Terrace, specializes in fresh-catch seafood and, of course, tropical drinks.
Highlights
  • Eco-friendly spa
  • Child-friendly water slides land in three pools
  • Soak up breathtaking views of Mission Bay
  • On-site restaurant specializes in fresh-catch seafood
Rooms

The Hyatt Regency offers 429 rooms and 12 suites. Accommodations vary in size and configuration but come standard with balcony or patio, flat-screen TV, Hyatt Grand Bed, iHome docking station and in-room safe. Wi-Fi and high-speed Internet access is available (fees apply) and all guests receive complimentary nightly turndown service.

Features

The Hyatt Regency Mission Bay completed a $65-million renovation in early 2010, during which the pools, guest rooms and meeting rooms were revamped. The property is now the only hotel in San Diego with multiple water slides into its pools.

All guests have complimentary access to the 24-hour StayFit Gym fitness center, which boasts the latest cardiovascular and free weight equipment. Guests can also book massages at the Blue Marble Spa, an eco-friendly spa that uses only organic products during treatments and serves only organic foods to customers while they wait.

Grab a fish taco and a margarita at the Red Marlin Restaurant, Bar and Terrace, a modern restaurant in the hotel lobby. The restaurant specializes in fresh-catch seafood--it's a good bet your entrée was swimming in Mission Bay shortly before you arrived.

a quick getaway

my fiance and i stayed here while we were in town for a concert. i have to say i was impressed with the overall look of the hotel. i would say the only drawback was the noise...airplanes and sea lions lol. but we both slept well and i would recommend this hotel to other ppl. i wish it was a bit warmer so we could have tried out the pool...next time!

Overall very good

Location is perfect: walking distance to Sea World, close drive to Old Town, Downtown San Diego and La Jolla. We also liked amenities a lot - you have everything you need: outdoor pools, jacuzzi, very nice fitness center, restaurant and bar. View from the tower room was to die for. The only complain would be the cleanliness of the room: the night stands were dusty and we noticed some hair in the shower and on the bathroom floor after check in. Certainly not what you would expect as a standard to this kind of hotel. However, overall a great experience and would definitely come back.

Great family getaway

Kids loved the pool with the 2 water slides and they liked the fire pits at night where they were able to buy smores kits and roast marshmallows. Hotel was in a great location! No need to rent a car. We were able to walk to Sea World which was a mile away and Mission Beach with the board walk was only a 2 mile walk at the most.

Awesome Water View, but $20/day for self-park is terrible

The location, pools, hot tub, water slides, balcony and water view can't be beat. The room service food was great. However, the breakfast buffet food was cold and for $25/person, I expected better. Should have ordered off the menu instead. The most disturbing thing was the $20 per night fee to park. The parking lot was very tight, spaces are narrow and you barely have room to back out between the rows. It would seem that at that room price they could have included free parking. I mean they charged extra for the water view, extra for the room service delivery and then a 19% gratuity on top of that! I would go back, but atleast would be aware of the extra fees.

Easter Break

The hotel staff is very warm and welcoming. We have stayed at the Hyatt before and the friendliness of the employees is always a nice treat. The room was comfortable for two, but had many stains on the carpet and the furniture. The location was perfect for what are needs were. It is sad that hotels feels the need to charge a daily fee for parking.

A great hotel

You feel like in a nice ocean resort with mature trees, plants, fire pits, tents, and beautiful bay and ocean views. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The tower and suite section offer great water views. The restaurant is right by the bay with good food and waitng staff. The hotel has several swimming pools and water slides, which are family friendly. The location of the hotel is close to all major attractions such as Coronado island, downtown San Diego, and Bolbar Park.

Bacon Vacation

the front desk, housekeeping and restaurant personnel were extremely helpful and friendly. The Red Marlin restaurant's buffet was great for breakfast. The grandkids filled up on bacon, fruit and cereal. My daughter in law proclaimed it our " bacon vacation".

Conference destination

Great looking hotel. Very comfortable room. The closet and the carpet could use some updating. I was put on hold for 15 minutes to request a late-check out only to be told it wasn't available past noon.
