Sprawling luxury near shores of Mission Bay with spa and water slides
The Hyatt Regency occupies prime real estate along the shores of Mission Bay, giving guests panoramic views of the water at every turn. The property, renovated in 2010, consists of three separate buildings that flank three outdoor pools. The luxury hotel also boasts a full-service marina and an eco-friendly spa. The on-site restaurant, Red Marlin Restaurant, Bar and Terrace, specializes in fresh-catch seafood and, of course, tropical drinks.Highlights
- Eco-friendly spa
- Child-friendly water slides land in three pools
- Soak up breathtaking views of Mission Bay
- On-site restaurant specializes in fresh-catch seafood
Rooms
The Hyatt Regency offers 429 rooms and 12 suites. Accommodations vary in size and configuration but come standard with balcony or patio, flat-screen TV, Hyatt Grand Bed, iHome docking station and in-room safe. Wi-Fi and high-speed Internet access is available (fees apply) and all guests receive complimentary nightly turndown service.
Features
The Hyatt Regency Mission Bay completed a $65-million renovation in early 2010, during which the pools, guest rooms and meeting rooms were revamped. The property is now the only hotel in San Diego with multiple water slides into its pools.
All guests have complimentary access to the 24-hour StayFit Gym fitness center, which boasts the latest cardiovascular and free weight equipment. Guests can also book massages at the Blue Marble Spa, an eco-friendly spa that uses only organic products during treatments and serves only organic foods to customers while they wait.
Grab a fish taco and a margarita at the Red Marlin Restaurant, Bar and Terrace, a modern restaurant in the hotel lobby. The restaurant specializes in fresh-catch seafood--it's a good bet your entrée was swimming in Mission Bay shortly before you arrived.

Nice hotel!
The hotel was very nice and had lots of amenities which we unfortunately weren't able to take advantage of because of the weather. This location was quite convenient to all local atractions but If I go back to San Diego again, I would probably choose to stay in the Gaslamp Quarter because of the better choice of restaurants, etc. The staff was great and the room was very clean. We were upgraded to a deluxe room when we arrived which was nice because of the private balcony. One bad thing was that our time on the 9th floor was next to the elevator shaft which was noisy. All in all, this was a good value and I would recommend.

Thanksgiving get away
Not the best. We we given one of the non tower rooms with no views. The room odor was musty. We had to call the front desk to try and minimize the odor which helped a little bit. The local channels on the TV were not viewable and the front desk had to be called again. Fortunately, the response was quick on both items. I would have expected more from a Hyatt hotel.

Peaceful and perfectly situated
The room was excellent. They upgraded us for free because of availability. The hotel is located perfectly to access downtown and up the coast. We rented a car and were able to drive everywhere quickly. Parking was extra, but the valet was only $5 more per night, convenient and almost needed because of limitations in space.

Get Away Weekend
The wife and I had a great weekend get away at this well located hotel in the marina in San Diego. We rented an electric chair/boat and cruised thru the marina and were able to get up close and personal. We spent the reat of our time in Old Town San Diego just a 10 min drive away! Awesome weekend!

Not as expected
Great location and amenities but room was not as expected. I upgraded to a king "suite" and was not in the tower. The room upon check-in was damp (including carpet and bedding) the chairs on the deck had no cushions so I had to take some from the couch in the front room to sit out on the deck. Although bedroom area is modern the living area is like an afterthought.

Definitely not a 4 star hotel
The hotel is tired and needs significant improvement for guest rooms and public areas. The walls are paper thin with lots of noise making it difficult to sleep. Cleaning start at 5am and you hear everything. Unfortunately we had a very noisy neighbor the first nite that woke us up at 12:30am. The wifi is not free compared to other hotels. The Red Marlin Restaurant has very poor service (extremely slow) but good food. The exterior is beautiful but the pools are extremely cold while the hot tub is too hot.
