Humphreys Half Moon Inn & Suites

photos dont tell the story about the hotel. its not as good as it looks in the pictures. the room was small. swimming pool got very crowded in evening. menu didnt have any vegetarian options (i'm vegetarian).

We did not realize that Shelter Island was mostly Marina for storage & repair of boats. Would prefer a different location next time. Also, the exterior of Humphreys needs maximum remodel. Our room remodel was first class, & clean.....good service.

The grounds are awesome, the rooms are unique and nice. The location is good. The front desk / reservations staff left something to be desired, and the price was not good value when you added it all up.

This hotel is beautiful on the outside but It could be so much better in the inside if they would take care of the minor details. It looks like It is a work in progress for an upgrade of a 1970s hotel, the bathroom doors looked they have about 6 coats of paint over them, the shower head pipe cover was not attached to the wall and the sink stand looked like it had been carved with an ax to make room for the drain pipes and you could also hear your neighbors above you. On the other hand the bedding was nicely done, the room had what it seemed to be a brand new flat screen tv and the exposed beams on the ceiling gave it a certain character. Another thing, they will charge you $10 a day for parking which to me makes the whole thing sounds like a cheap place to stay at but again the place looks very charming with its Hawaiian atmosphere and beautiful garden. The pool was not bad either.

location was good. room was clean, only one thing that i dont like was room structure, the bed was right in front of the door.

This newly remodeled inn was a great find in San Diego. With beautiful views of the bay and nicely decorated suites, it's a hidden paradise.

Walls were paper thin you could HEAR and SMELL everything going on around you. Our door was a security concern because it didn't close behind you, you had to lift up to open versus down. Great weekend otherwise, food was awesome, pool was huge, Jacuzzi was huge. Nice location and staff was very very nice.

Reasonable for a business stay, would be better if you had time to use pool, hot tub, putting green. Fun weekday evening lounge for the older generations.

The room we initially got had a problem with the AC and the fan was not working. We were offered another room in a better location immediately, and really enjoyed our stay. Very nice property with beatiful landscaping. We will stay there again when in San Diego.

When I booked my stay here I was really excited about the tropical feel of the hotel and pool but in the end it wasn't really worth staying here. I felt like I was getting a deal through this site but the weather in San Diego was terrible so we didn't get to use the pool, which is what I was most excited about. On top of that the beds were so uncomfortable (stiff as a board) I could not sleep. I asked about moving rooms but was told they all had the same mattresses.
