great stay
we loved the view our room had. I just sit for hrs watching over the harbor. The only real complaint we had was that there wasn't a kiddy pool (not that most hotels do have one) but other than that we loved our stay. Stay was what i expected for the price we paid. ($200 a night

Beautiful hotel on the outside
The front desk was rude. I purchased a pool/garden view and I got a view of a wall. My "renovated" room was musty and smelled old. I requested extra towels and never got them. In the morning room service burst through the door while we were still sleeping at 8AM.

Family getaway
Beautiful setting for this hotel residing in the middle of Shelter Island. A marina and fantastic view of the hills on one side and San Diego Bay and North Island on the other side. Convienent to all the local sightseeing spots, Freeways and the Airport. The room was clean and comfortable. We asked for additional coffee and condiments for the room on our first night and housekeeping did an awesome job of making sure we had plenty throughout our stay. Unfortunately, while we were there the weather was not great and we did not take advantage of the beautiful pool and hot tub. The resturant was wonderful for adults, we were visiting family and had three very small children with us for dinner and it was a bit too elegant for small children. The view from the resturant was awesome at night. If there was anything to be changed or added to this hotel it would be a less fancy resturant, maybe a snack bar or diner with a more kid friendly menu items.

Short drive from hotel
We spent a lot of time in the downtown, Harbor Drive area during our stay. It was only a 5 minute drive from the hotel. Dining, shopping, sightseeing tours, the Midway, the Maritime Museum, Seaport Village all within a short drive. Balboa Park, with its numerous museums and San Diego Zoo were just 10 to 15 minutes drive. And, Disneyland was about an hour and a half drive. Freeways 8 and 5 were easily excessible from the hotel.

Loved the view
We loved the location, we could walk to lots of restaurants and to the park across the street. Our room however faced the parking lot and was very noisy all night long. That said we would stay there again and just ask for a room on the side facing Point Loma.

A nice vacation...
My Parents and I went to San Diego to visit another family member. The Hotel was VERY close to the airport and had a beautiful view of the bay. If you love sailboats-STAY HERE. There was a nice running path, relaxing hot tub, and great muffin shop down the street. When we had a problem with out first room (we had requested a pool/garden view) they moved as soon as we ask and had a good explanation for not putting us there in the first place (the room we were originally placed was new renovated and they thought we would want that). The Staff was friendly and the rooms were very clean. My family and I would go back.

Horrible, noisy stay!
The hotel was very noisy due to very thin walls and ceilings. Was going to complain to the front desk at check out, but waited a long time as another man complained about the handicapped parking situation. After seeing how rude the front desk agent was to the other gentleman, I did not even bother. First hotel in 10 years my wife said she never wanted to return to. My wife and I have done lots of traveling in a number of areas. The location is good and the grounds of the hotel are nice since it is an older hotel. Since my wife and I usually only use our room and not the other amenities a hotel offers, we like for the room to be pleasant. We could have gotten the same room at the Motel 6 down the street. The toilet seat needed to be replaced 3 years ago and is beyond the help of a good cleaning. It was very disgusting!
