Howard Johnson Inn San Diego Sea World

I walked in to my room the first time , sat on the bed a saw a large dead bug!! From then on I knew this was not going to be a pleasurable stay!! The next day I woke up with bug bites on my legs!! If I could have afforded it I would have went to another hotel!! One night I wanted to go to the hot tub, THERE WAS NOT ONE! The swimming pool looked like an over sized bath tub. About the only nice thing was the location, ie: proximity to Sea World, the beach,the airport, and eating & shopping. The whole trip was a large and expensive dissapointment!!

No hot water for showers!! Nobody cared. The rooms I booked were mis-represented in the on-line ad. A big rip-off. [...] Adios.

those of you who reviewed this as family friendly are way off the mark. The first signs you see when exiting the hwy for this hotel are for XXX theaters and shops. There are stripbars within walking distance, not that I would recommend walking anywhere around this hotel. The staff were friendly, and the newly remodeled rooms were clean and nice. The complimentary airport shuttle was on time and easy. However, I stayed alone with my 9 year old son, and did not feel very safe. Its also extremely noisy. Right on a busy street, and very near the airport so air traffic noise all day and night. Not so much a hotel more like a motel.

Room was decent. Location was good, close to Sea World. Hotel has a restaurant, but we went to Sizzler across the street, get a 10% discount when staying at hotel. When checking out, staff tried to charge us for room safe and parking lot security, which we were unaware of, I didn't ask to use the room safe. We were going to grab a bite to eat on the way out, about 9:15, but they had already began cleaning and had nothing to eat, just coffee, hot cocoa and apple juice that was dirty, had black flakes floating in the cup. From what I can remember, their continental breakfast should have been available until 10:00.

I was there two nights for business. The neighborhood is run-down and a little scary at night, but the rooms were decent. They charge you an extra dollar per night for a "safe fee" even if you don't use one, because it goes into their insurance pool if someone steals. Hmmmmm. The breakfast was waffles and cereal, very sparse. Plugs were falling out of the walls, and there was no shampoo. It was a convenient location to the airport, and free parking.

It wasn't the best quiet noisy with people slamimg doors all night. And we were billed for a day that we didn't make it Comfort Inn will not charge you for a reservation if you don't make it especially when traveling with a small child.

The advertised pictures on the sight were misleading. The rooms were old and stale. The room was not anywhere near updated as far as the tv, bed, or pillows were concerned. The pool was so little and the surrounding pool furniture was faded resin decor. I was very disappointed in the room considering what we paid for it... VERY DISAPPOINTED! We will not go back. BTW, the shuttle requires a 24 hr notice... I didn't see that written anywhere on the page... that was one of the reasons we reserved room there. Breakfast sucked too.

The picture on the website was very deceiving. This hotel is VERY old. The microwave didn't work, the fridge barely worked and there was no pool. The smell of smoke in our non-smoking room was very strong. Good location close to the airport for our early flight. It would have been depressing to have stayed there for any longer than an over-night close to the airport.

The hotel is very conveniently located to San Diego Int'l Airport. There are also many places to eat nearby. If you are traveling with alot of luggage,or elderly, it is not convenient as there are no elevators. Heating/air conditioner is the style that is on the wall below the window and blows the curtains up.

Everything else was fine for a night stay but I had a horrible experience trying to get some good night sleep. In between the noisy neighbors we had that were up all night deciding on their trip since we could hear everything!!! and the cars and airplanes passing all night long..we had the worst night ever!!! not to mention the worst service trying to find a place that would deliver us food at 9pm..but that's not the hotels issue. I will not stay here ever again! It was not worth the price cuss of the horrible noisy area it's in. so I don't recommend it unless its the last resort!
