Worth the few extra dollars

Would recommend Thu, Jul 7, 2011
I wanted to find a hotel near Sea World that wasn't too expensive because we were only going to be there one night. This hotel was very clean and despite what others have said it's not loud at all. Yes planes are flying by but we couldn't hear it from our room at all. I didn't mind paying a little bit extra for a more comfortable room. The room was a surprisingly nice size with a mini fridge, pullout couch and microwave to boot. I was overall very pleased.

Dining

Some of the best restaurants around are Karl Strauss, Phil's BBQ, and Woodstocks Pizza. Enjoy!

The good and the bad.

Would recommend Wed, Jun 29, 2011
The room was very nice and updated. The free breakfast was fantastic. It's so close to everything...Sea World, beaches, any fast food restaurant you could want, including 2 starbucks w/in walking distance. However, the noise from the planes taking off was too much for me and the street noise from all the daytime traffic ruined the peacefulness. Won't be going back here because of the noise issue. The pool was also disappointing.

Good value and location for the price

Nice hotel, good for the price and it is very close to the sea world. the 1st room we got smelled like someone smoked inside the room, went to the front desk and they changed it right away. It was pretty hard to adjust the air con, either high AC or no AC.

Clean and comfortable

Would recommend Tue, Jun 7, 2011
Came to san Diego to see the zoo and SeaWorld. The room was close to both places and the beach, nothing special about the hotel but it was clean and the staff was friendly. And there was plenty of restaurants near buy the area seemed a little seedy but surprising it was quiet at night. So if you're here to enjoy what san Diego has to offer and just sleep and maybe watch a little TV at night this hotel is worth a try.

Clean & functional with a good location

Would recommend Mon, May 23, 2011
The room is no frills, but was very clean with comfortable beds. The person working the front desk was very helpful, and even printed out a mapquest route to Julian for us. The breakfast is adequate, with make your own Belgian waffles, and other items such as hot and cold cereal, sweet rolls, coffee, juices, etc. The location is good for going most anywhere you want to go in San Diego. Overall, it is a good place to stay. You will get a nice clean room at a competitive price. Lower priced hotels are available, but this one is priced high enough to dissuade people looking for a cheap place to party, but low enough to be a good value. Would stay again if I need a hotel room in this area again.

Good and cheap

Would recommend Tue, Apr 19, 2011
The staff was friendly, everything was easy. They provided us with a crib, which was great. The place was clean and simple - not fancy, but we didn't care. It was convenient to everything we wanted to do -- it seemed like everything was 20 minutes away, no matter how far! And the neighborhood was safe. I'd stay there again.

Dining

Pretty good Mexican food attached to the hotel -- try the carnitas.

Good value

This was probably a very nice hotel in its day, but today is just a touch "old". However, that being said, the rooms were clean and spacious, and the staff couldn't have been more friendly or more helpful. I would have liked protein served with the continental breakfast (eggs were available, but typically weren't put out unless requested; and no peanut butter for the toast). But other than that, it was a very good place located within walking distance of restaurants and shopping.

Decent Cheap Motel

Would not recommend Tue, Mar 29, 2011
I was there two nights for business. The neighborhood is run-down and a little scary at night, but the rooms were decent. They charge you an extra dollar per night for a "safe fee" even if you don't use one, because it goes into their insurance pool if someone steals. Hmmmmm. The breakfast was waffles and cereal, very sparse. Plugs were falling out of the walls, and there was no shampoo. It was a convenient location to the airport, and free parking.
