Homewood Suites by Hilton® San Diego-Del Mar

The pool was very basic and that is the main thing the kids wanted to do...the shower was in need of attention...the stairs had a bad smell...the rest of the room was clean...the included breakfast and dinner were good...the staff was helpful.

Excellent hotel. Went to del Mar race track.

Rooms were very clean, service was excellent. Living in a suite let us put the kids to bed early while we stayed up later. Daily breakfast and dinner on weekdays are included, which saved us a ton of money. This is the second time we've stayed at Homewood Suites and we'll definitely stay there again next time we're in San Diego. The only thing that's not ideal is the location. It's pretty deep in suburbia, so there's nothing within walking distance. But Del Mar and La Jolla are only a 10-minute drive away. Chances are that the same hotel near the beach would cost twice as much.

We initially drove right by the hotel - it's in a kind of residential area. The staff, across the board, were excellent! Friendly, helpful and professional. The breakfast buffet and the evening meal - much more than appetizers and beverages - could not be beat! For the money though, our 2bdrm/2 bath suite was a little on the small side. You could not have more than one person in the kitchenette at one time. And seating for 2 at the small table! Walls were really thin, we could hear other guests above us and in the hallways. Our neighbor's shower - 45 mins one morning - could be heard a little too clearly. Pool is really small so don't count on that for your family entertainment. Guest laundry is coin operated. We tried the Hilton Garden Bistro one night and they were out of hamburger - so we left. Location is fairly convenient - we went into San Diego several times with no problems.

Friendly service. Our room was ready in the morning, way before the official check in time, which was nice. Free internet and a pretty nice breakfast with scrambled eggs, fruits, pancakes etc. We could not participate in the afternoon complimentary food offerings, but it look also like a very nice touch. Not having to eat out every morning really saved some money and was very convenient (We were on a business trip and since it is our business, I would have come out of our pocket to eat else were). If we had been there for the evening happy hours, we could have saved that expense, too. Comfortable room, always could be a little bigger, but was big enough for two people. Great large shower. We would stay here again.

Service was great, they even brought extra cookies to the room at 10:00 pm. Will stay there again when in the area.

Good overall. Liked the free hot breakfast and dinners.

Nice hotel - good sized room and excellent service.

We found this hotel to be a very enjoyable experience. It's a bit off the beaten path but the spacious suites, quiet environment, great buffets and excellent staff more than made up for this rather minor issue. It's location is great if you're planning to spend some time in the seacoast towns/beaches north of San Diego and is only 20-25 minutes from downtown.
