Hotel was good value for money

The hotel looks and feels dated, but it is all about the location. It is located right at the bay. Horton plaza (heart of downtown) and Amtrak are within a mile. The hotel provides shuttle to the Zoo, Horton Plaza, Amtrak and the Airport. The staff were really nice, it was getting late for our flight, so the staff put us on a taxi and made sure we made it on time. The furniture, decor and comfort were below par. Overall the experience was pretty pleasant.

great location

location was perfect if you needed to be close to downtown, Was close to several restaurants and shuttle service to and from airport was exellent. The staff were very pleasant and helpful, Had just returned from Mexico and needed clothes cleaned of layers of dust. I was amazed at how fast and reasonable this was accomplished. Will stay there again on my annual trip to Mexico.

Great stay when attending a convention or vacationing in San Diego

Great location. Bay view room is an awesome view of the bay, none better even in more upscale hotels. Fifteen to 25 minute walk to the convention center, Sea Port village, Little Italy, Gas Lamp District and the Mall. It's just 2 blocks away from the train station where one can go just about anywhere else on a short trolly ride. Plus it's only 10 minutes and a $10 taxi ride to the air port. The hotel does have a free shuttle to the air port on the half hour. It has a nice bar and family restaurant medium priced.

Great for Cruise Ship Pier

The clerk sent us to an unmade room but corrected that and upgraded us to a better room. We use this hotel for overnighting going to or returning from a cruise. Great location for much of anything downtown. Staff are friendly and helpful. Restaurant is clean and good service and food.

Decent hotel in a decent location

Wife and I went to San Diego for San Diego Beer Week - 2012. The hotel location was downtown and close to the festival. We were within walking distance to a few brew pubs and many restaurants, however all of the large breweries required special transportation to visit. The airport shuttle worked great and runs every 30 minutes. They also have a shuttle to the zoo (and two shopping locations) that runs 3 times throughout the day. Breakfast options are extremely limited at this location....there is the onsite dining and a deli that are on the property, both fairly expensive considering most of the meal is dough. They also have a small kiosk near the elevators that sell pastries and coffee. All we needed was some fresh fruit, yogurt, juices and coffee. An inexpensive, light, healthy breakfast proved elusive. There was a Hampton Inn down the street that provides a complimentary/continental breakfast for their guests. A similar offer here would be appreciated. The room was clean and relatively comfortable. The bathroom shower will be inconvenient for women to shave their legs. There is no seat to "step on" or shelf to place your shower supplies.

A little over priced for the experience.

I usually love the Holiday Inn but this one, or atleast Tower Two room 653 where I was, wasn't that great. The wallpaper was peeling off, the bed was too soft and the water pressure was terrible!!! I ran a 5k and was looking forward to a nice hot shower afterwards. It wasn't that hot and it was like showering under a rain gutter. The bath and body amenities were a nice touch though. The tv was okay but every now and then would go black. Prob cable company problem though. The hotel itself looked pretty nice though. I just think they need to fix up the rooms a bit in this tower. Seem like they tried to remodel on a budget. It was nice if I had t paid $170 a night (including parking) It was more like a $75 a night kinda place.

Great Place for Pre-Cruisers

If you are going on a Mexican cruise, this hotel will be wonderful as far as getting to the ship is concerned because of its location. The ship will be across the street and one block south of this Holiday Inn - On the Bay. The hotel's staff are wonderful and inviting. I was a little disappointed in my room because of the view but the most important thing it is clean. I could have had gone down to the front desk and complained but I needed an accessible room and they may not have one available.as each hotel has limited amount of them. In my personal feelings as I am from Seattle, WA, the waterfront here in Seattle are far much better than San Diego's.
