Frustrated
Bait and Switch
The room was adequate[...] When I checked in and arrived at the room, the room smelled worse than an ashtray. I was told this was the only room left. The hotel manager said that I could not get a refund for the the night. I had no choice but to stay the night at Hotel Ashtray. Try spending the night in a smoking room with a child with asthma. [...] By far, not a good experience.

Holiday Inn Express MIRA MESA-SAN DIEGO
the difference from stay at the Holiday Inn Las Veges is like night and day. The people at SD were unfriendly, and when we went for breakfast there was no or no place to seat of over 1 hr. the second even through a holiday they closed on a normal work day

Fine print reader
adequate
Have stayed in better Holiday Inn Expresses for less. Was disappointed. Also, in very fine print underneath signature line was statement that local paper would be delivered for $.75 each day. This wasn't mentioned by clerk. I requested no paper. She said she would make a note. In a.m. paper was at door. I returned it unread to clerk at desk. Again was told it would be removed. However, was charged on final statement. They acted like they didn't know what I was talking about!

Stayin at the Holiday Inn.......Express
I stayed here a month ago and liked it enough to book this hotel again. The rooms are nicely renovated and the Breakfast is good. The staff has alway been polite and helpful. I was attending a training seminar at a nearby business. This location is right off of the 15 so it is very easy to get to where you are going. My only compliant is the old cheap fitness equipment and the old CRT TV's that don't allow for accessory hook up. If they were to fix those it would be the perfect affordable hotel.

Not too impressed w/Staff - Facility OK
I reserved a NON-SMOKING ROOM and was told they couldn't guarantee anything because I used a 3rd party service to reserve the room. So, we ended up in a smoking room, which was miserable to us...being non-smokers. Plus the clerk had an attitude about it. Very bad experience, and very hard to sleep choking all night. It was a non-refundable reservation, so figured I had to stay there. Very very disappointed.

Overall a Good Stay
Only problem was that on Monday morning (Labor Day) they were out of food for the continental breakfast by 8:30 a.m.

Holiday inn Express, Mira Mesa , SD
Very nice rooms. The complamentary breakfast was great with a nice view at that. The staff was very nice in all aspects. Checking in and checking out was a breeze. You get a news paper everymorning at the front of your door and they don't just throw them they place them forward so when you open the door it's facing you. Overall for the price I got it on Orbitz and many expensive hotels that I've stayed in within the San Diego area, this hotel is worth the stay.

Short walk from hotel
Shozen Korean BBQ I located in the same plaza as HInn Ex, Dennys, and pizza hut. It's a 2 minute walk away from the hotel. It's abit on the pricey side the you get alot and the food is great. (they speak very good English for all those that dare not tred forgien waters).

Clean Room,B/fast room- not very clean. I wish there was drinking water in the room. I was not sure if the tap water was good. I ended up buying from the vending machine.
