High-rise luxury along San Diego Bay
When the Hilton San Diego Bayfront opened in 2008, the property quickly became one of the tallest hotels in San Diego. Today, the glass-and-steel edifice towers over the Bay itself, offering guests spectacular views of the entire city. The property features PURE Allergy-Friendly guestrooms for visitors with allergies, a 24-hour fitness room, a heated outdoor pool and a full-service spa onsite. Odysea, one of three on-site restaurants, spotlights American dim sum and creative cocktails.
Highlights
  • High-rise tower offers fantastic views of San Diego
  • PURE Allergy-Friendly guestrooms for visitors with allergies
  • Dine on American-style dim sum at Odysea, one of three on-site restaurants.
Rooms

The Hilton San Diego Bayfront offers 1,190 rooms, including 30 suites. All accommodations are spacious and modern, with furniture and carpets that still feel new. Each room comes standard with a flat-screen TV, bath products from Crabtree & Evelyn, MP3 docking station and in-room safe. Wi-Fi and high-speed Internet access are available (fees apply). Pets are welcome (fees apply).

Features

The Hilton San Diego Bayfront has become famous for its views of the San Diego Bay.

Guests appreciate views from a giant open-air lobby patio that doubles as a sitting area. Guests receive complimentary access to the on-site fitness center and heated outdoor pool. The on-site spa offers a variety of treatments (fees apply). Jogging and walking paths surround the property and connect with other trails in the area.

Meals at the Hilton San Diego Bayfront are eclectic, thanks to three reliable eateries. The most upscale of the trio is Vela, which serves fresh California cuisine. Great location by the bay

The hotel is very conveniently located by downtown and seaport village. We were at first booked in a room that labeled overlooking the Coronado bridge.. They call the "industrial view" at checkin. I found it to be a little too industrial for my liking and requested downtown view for a few dollars more. It was well worth it. The Staff were very professional and nice. Parking ran about $30 a night. Something I will never get use to... The rooms were decent. Relative to newer hotels it may seem somewhat an older style. There wasn't a fridge in the room. But the room/bathroom overall was pleasant!

Nice Hotel but definitely I was expecting something better from Hilton. The "Bridge View" wasn't too nice.

Great location and views

We have stayed in many places over the years in San Diego. For convenience and view this was probably my favorite. As with all major hotel chains gift shop can be pricey so don't forget to bring what you need.

You can walk to either Seaport village or the Gaslamp from this location. They also except pets which was odd but did not present a problem for us.

Sightseeing tip: Long walk from hotel

I found purchasing tickets for Sea World and other attraction to be cheaper at a ticket office located at 1140 N Harbor Dr, San Diego, Sea World tickets were $65 vs $80 at the hotel at a discounted rate.

Stay somewhere else!

For $319 a night (and this was an online deal), I would definitely recommend that you stay somewhere else! Room was small...no windows opened...no mini-refrigerator...scary loud loudspeaker outside at a nearby park that startled everyone I know at 8 a.m. on a Saturday morning. Staff expected huge tips...didn't even say thank you when I tipped them a reasonable amount. Called security on a fight in the stairwell next to my room and it took 30 minutes for security to show up!!! Very very unhappy with my stay...and especially unhappy about the price I paid given how small the room was.

Hilton Name and Quality

Unfortunately, we arrived when there was a huge traffic problem. It took us an hour to arrive in the parking lot once we were a block from the hotel. There could be better arrangements for guests. There was only one cup for the coffee when there were two of us in the room. This hotel is definitely set for companies to pay for everything and not for the regular vacationer to pay for their own expenses. We had a great time using the pool and walked the promenade. Thanks for the stay and booking.

Great Location, Clean Rooms, Crowded Pool

The highlights were the location on the waterfront (walking distance to Petco Park and Gaslamp) and a clean quiet room with a view of the harbor, mainly of the Dole container ship, the shipyard, the train yard and the Coronado Bridge (our 2-year-old loved looking out the window). The only disappointment was that with so many families there for Labor Day, the pool area was overcrowded and not very clean or relaxing.
