High-rise luxury along San Diego Bay
When the Hilton San Diego Bayfront opened in 2008, the property quickly became one of the tallest hotels in San Diego. Today, the glass-and-steel edifice towers over the Bay itself, offering guests spectacular views of the entire city. The property features PURE Allergy-Friendly guestrooms for visitors with allergies, a 24-hour fitness room, a heated outdoor pool and a full-service spa onsite. Odysea, one of three on-site restaurants, spotlights American dim sum and creative cocktails.
Highlights
  • High-rise tower offers fantastic views of San Diego
  • PURE Allergy-Friendly guestrooms for visitors with allergies
  • Dine on American-style dim sum at Odysea, one of three on-site restaurants.
Rooms

The Hilton San Diego Bayfront offers 1,190 rooms, including 30 suites. All accommodations are spacious and modern, with furniture and carpets that still feel new. Features

The Hilton San Diego Bayfront has become famous for its views of the San Diego Bay.

Guests appreciate views from a giant open-air lobby patio that doubles as a sitting area. Guests receive complimentary access to the on-site fitness center and heated outdoor pool. The on-site spa offers a variety of treatments (fees apply). Jogging and walking paths surround the property and connect with other trails in the area.

Meals at the Hilton San Diego Bayfront are eclectic, thanks to three reliable eateries. The most upscale of the trio is Vela, which serves fresh California cuisine. San Diego Stay

Had a great time at the hotel. The room was perfect as we upgraded to 27th floor view room for an extra $20 per night. My wife enjoyed it. The only problem was a party at ground level that could be heard until 10pm in the room on Thursday night. The Fox Grill with free internet and the service was great. The parking charge was in addition to the room charge but what do you expect from San Diego. All in All we will be back....

san diego trip

Our room was very comfortable, and we had great views of the harbor. Parking was $27/night, but you were able to go in and out as many times as you needed to. Hotel restaurants were all closed for private bowl game events when we were there, which was frustrating. The gaslamp quarter was about a 10 minute walk away, but the walk back at night was somewhat creepy. I would probably take a cab back next time.

crowded and a bit noisy

All in all, the hotel was good. Room was competitively priced for downtown San Diego. If you are impatient, like I am, the elevators will drive you nuts. One day, I waited more than 5 minutes for an elevator to arrive to the my floor so I could head down to the lobby. The room was small, and nothing extraordinary. All through the night, we could hear doors opening and closing throughout our floor, and could hear everyone's conversations in the rooms next to ours and in the hallway. That is my primary complaint. Restaurants were good, but pricey for the type of food they served. Proximity to the waterfront was great, but also right next to the port, so many views are of cargo ships being unloaded. Pool was great, and very well appointed with loungers, private cabanas, etc. Overall, I would probably try to find something further from the convention center to avoid the crowds and get a little more privacy, but a nice hotel all the same.

Dining tip: Short drive from hotel

Casa Guadalajara is quite possibley the best Mexican Restaurant in all of San Diego. It is in Old Town, about a 10 min. drive from the Hilton. Would recommend reservations, but the live mariachi band, and the fantastic food are worth the wait.

Good Hotel

Parking is 27-37 dollars though. There is a bridge that connects the hotel to another parking lot on the otherside. That parking lot only charges 5 dollars a day. I suggest you park there and walk to the hotel. It takes about 4 minutes.

Great, soothing getaway

A perfect, soothing getaway in an elegant, clean, centrally located, and good value hotel. Stayed just before Christmas, and the decor was dazzling! This was a one night stay as had booked a special concert for the evening. The Bayside/City views from our room were spectacular, especially being on the higher floor, and the room was very pleasantly done with plush bedding, and clean. Modern furnishings and awesome bathroom with large shower. Convenient to the Convention Center, Gaslamp, and Yacht areas. Good variety of restaurants, comfy lounging areas, and nice firepits out. Got a package and a great deal! Would definitely stay again...

Beautiful Hotel

This Hotel is located in an extraordinary location. The views are breathtaking. The staff is very cordial and I love the Starbucks on the ground floor. When baseball season resumes this would be a great place to stay and head over to PETCO Park. I loved my stay.
