Weekend ball game
My husband and I shared a quick night away in San Diego. We came to watch the Padre's game. This hotel was lovely and suited our needs perfectly. Close to the ball park, a good value, and had plenty of restaurants/nightlife within walking distance. Also the hotel staff were exceptionally polite at check-in.

great stay
Beautiful hotel, great location. Even though it seemed busy and full (judging by the lobby), our room was quiet. Nice pool and hot tub, but we didn't eat at any of the hotel restaurants. As for location, Gaslamp district is half a block away but far enough that you're not living in the middle of it. The trolley stop is across the street and the ferry to Coronado Island can be caught at the convention center next door. The front desk and concierge staff were friendly, efficient and helpful Would definitely recommend this hotel and would stay there again. My only negative comment is the beds, but that's a personal preference. After having a mattress at home that doesn't shake when someone rolls over, I knew right away I wouldn't get much sleep on these standard mattresses. Fortunately we had a room with 2 queen beds so my husband and I slept in separate beds.

Dining tip:
Not Applicable
If you're used to the Seattle/Vancouver style of city with multiple coffee shops on every city block, you'll be disappointed in this town. Very weird that we couldn't find a simple coffee shop aside from the Starbucks in the hotel. Also, we couldn't find a drugstore or grocery store. Even weirder.

Good Location, Convenience to access ocean view
Banana Republic was holding a big conference there so Hilton was really busy. Room is not clean as slack season but acceptable. The bayfront location is great and easy to access ocean. However, make sure to reserve a room that can see ocean as not all rooms do.
