Bro-tel

I've stayed at other HRs before and I'm down for a party hotel (and have passed out in quite a few memorable ones), but if you don't use the word Bro or Brah in normal conversation or have a Bachelorette sash with matching tutu (tube dress?), this is probably not the hotel for you - at least on a summer weekend. At checkout, nearly every car was being loaded with leftover alcohol ... That they brought with them to the hotel. On the upside, the room was pretty nice and the shower was great, but it was WAY overpriced.

There's a speakeasy a few blocks away. You will need reservations (seriously). Find it, make a reservation and go!

Hard Rock fun

The Hard Rock hotel in Sab Diego is a really fun place, especially if you are under 30. Very hip, great location. The weekends are very busy, some say crazy. It is what it is, a Rock n Roll hotel.

Parking and "resort fee" too expensive.

$35 per day for parking is laughable. Considering it cost me less to rent the car each day. The hotel attempts to make you feel like a rock star?? Not me, [...] The gym was small, the spa is overpriced, the mbar was even more overpriced and it looked as if the snacks had been sitting there for several months. $4 for a tiny package of gummy bears??? Not to mention a 29% in service charges and tax. The "intimacy kit" was offensive. The whole hotel seemed like a cheap facade of promiscuity and alcoholism. [...]. I was weary when I chose the hotel and got hosed like expected.

Beautiful Hotel, Great Location....

This was my first visit to San Diego, although I have stayed in Hard Rock hotels before. The Hard Rock San Diego definitely did not disappoint! The room was beautiful, especially the floor-to-ceiling window with an awesome view of the city and the bay. The iPod hook up to the huge, flat screen TV was very cool, and the hotel provides you with a connector. The staff was very friendly, from room service to valet to front desk staff, and were really helpful with info about the Gaslamp Quarter and where to visit/party. My only complaints were the expense of room service and valet parking. Room service food was, for the most part, pretty good - but be prepared to spend $18 for a hamburger, plus a $4.00 service charge every time. And pay attention to your bill - they automatically add a 19% gratuity, which I missed the first time and tipped the guy extra on top of it. Also, there is very little parking in/around the Gaslamp Quarter, and the Hard Rock only offers valet - which is $35/day. However, all things considered, San Diego is a major city, and the expense of the Hard Rock and it's amenities seemed to be akin to that of everything else around it. Overall, had a great experience, and will definitely go back. Actually ended up changing my flight and adding another night to my stay, but booked it through the Hard Rock hotel itself. The staff was very accommodating through the whole process, and was able to keep me in the same room. Would definitely recommend to people looking for a fun, trendy place to stay - but probably not the best place for families and those looking for a quiet time.

Great Location

Terrific location. Good looking hotel. Not a place for eating, although Mary Jane is serviceable for a quick bite. It is a bit loud as would be expected, but they should've designed better for it. The hallways a a bit dark too. The staff is very friendly and really helpful, but could use a better conciegre. Rooms are well designed and comfortable. The parking is outrangeously expensive for a long stay. They should have better rates for long time guests of over a couple days. Overall, great place.
