Cool hotel but not luxury

Would not recommend Mon, Dec 14, 2015
Cool hotel but not luxury was really there. I even upgraded to the so called suite and it wasnt great at all. The bathroom bulb was out in the suite! The suite was the same size as a regular room but just rearranged a bit.

A Mixed Bag

Would not recommend Wed, Oct 7, 2015
We were here for a convention and so the location was perfect. I really went into this without too many expectations beyond the normal ones for a hotel of this price range and caliber. The Good: Great vibe and feel to the place. The King Suite was huge and I loved the modern feel. The location was perfect and close to a lot of restaurants and activities in the downtown area. The pool area was very nice and had really comfy lounge chairs. Check in was easy and quick. All of the staff we had to interact with were great, super kind and helpful. The gym is well equipped (however a little small and crowded). The spa is very nice and not too over priced. The Bad: Most of these negative comments are taking into consideration the cost of this hotel and star level. 1. If you come here better bring a fat wallet because everything cost money. The only thing free was the coffee offered from 6-9am in the dinner. The amenities were great but take into consideration that you are paying a resort fee for them which you have no choice in the matter. 2. Since we were here for a conference Saturday was the only time we could use the pool and imagine our surprise after paying our resort fee to be told we had to spend a $350 MINIMUM at the bar just to sit by the pool. Apparently on Saturday's the pool turns into a day club with a DJ and such. This was not disclosed to us when we booked the hotel or when we checked in. In part it was our bad luck but also had we known this we might have picked another hotel since we knew Saturday was the only day we had free time. 3. Had continued problems with the TV's and cable. The engineering staff who came to help each time were very kind and helpful but for what I paid for this room I feel I had Motel 6 kinds of issues. In four days we had 2 plumbing problems, 3 TV issues and a dead battery in the smoke detector in the middle of the night. You can chalk this up to bad luck or just bad maintenance. Again not the hassles you want to deal with on a trip and paying that much for a room. Overall we had a great time in San Diego and at the hotel in general. However, with the issues we had not sure I would return.
