A good place to stay

We arrived at the hotel at 4AM in the morning due to some complications of the flight. It took me some time to find the front desk staff to check in. The room was big, clean, and decent. The bed felt good. We didn't have time to explore other features of the hotel.

Weekend Getaway

GREAT hotel! It was a fantastic value! Feels upscale... The staff was super friendly, the rooms were very clean and comfortable, the beds were VERY comfortable, and the pool area is wonderful! The only downside for us was the location... it's meant to be a business hotel so the location is in a sort of industrial area... not really walking distance to anything fun. However, I used to work in the area, so I knew that just up the street there is a great shopping center with lots of options for food and entertainment. Del Mar is about 20 minutes north of downtown San Diego, 15 minutes from Sea World and Legoland, and about 2 miles from great beaches and shops! I would definitely recommend this hotel. We plan to stay there again!

Relaxing Getaway!

I have to admit I was skeptical on arrival becuase I knew that the hotel was under construction (renovation), but this was no worry. They were working floor by floor and I stayed on the 4th while they were on the 3rd. I did't hear any ruckus at all. The chocolate chip cookies were delicious. The lounge area outside is a great place to have a drink and enjoy the fresh outdoors by the amazing firepits. Didnt get the chance to use the pool but it looked amazing. The bartender at night was awesome, she hooked up the drink. :) thx. Overall a great place and great location.

They are undergoing construction

Everything was fine when we checked in - room was nice, but the remote was missing. we checked in late Friday afternoon. They sent up a remote, I did not anticipate any problem. The next morning, after a long night out, before 9am, someone started hammering right above us. I called the Front Desk they told me "Well, there is construction going on, but it should not affect you" I told them I could hear it and I was trying to sleep, they said they would send someone to talk to construction. Then another hammer started, then ANOTHER, so my Husband called, and the response was "Well, we can't find a construction supervisor to ask, so since you are up and can't sleep and I can't do anything about the construction, would you like a complimentary breakfast?" We said no, as we were checking out that day, and the Front Desk said, "Well, there's nothing more I can do for you then, sorry" I went to use Express Checkout on the phone, they answered it, and put me on hold over 12 min, so I hung up. We went downstairs and my Husband had a word with the Manager - while we were there, another woman came up and said, "I have a child and there seems to be construction going on, is this all day? Because he has to take naps" They ignored her, so my Husband stood there with her and said "You ARE going to take care of her problem, RIGHT?" They said they would move her. But prior to my Husband saying something, they were just telling her that 'Yes, there is construction, we can't do anything about that' The Front Desk staff was unresponsive. My Husband asked them if they knew the construction was going to happen. They said yes. He asked them if they knew what time - on a weekend - it was going to begin, they said yes. He asked them why, then, did they book those rooms if they KNEW that these things were going to happen. They had no response. The result was, we did NOT have a great stay, we did NOT sleep in and recover from our long drive there and subsequent late evening, and the long drive BACK that same day, was very long and we are lucky we did not fall asleep. The whole point in staying at this hotel was to NOT be tired or stress about the amount of driving that we had to do. My Husband was very upset that he had to go down and request a talk with the Manager, in order to get any response that was helpful. This seems like a nice hotel - but before you make a reservation, call and see if they are having construction done, because apparently, they are more worried about filling the room than YOUR comfort. By the time we left the room - 10 am, there were 4 hammers, a buzz saw, and the ceiling to our room seemed to be shaking.

family vacation

Vacation. There were pets on the premises. My wife has asthma and is severely allergic to dogs and cats. She suffered an attack while there and reqd. to see an MD. This could have been life threatening. We should have been notified prior to booking or if we had known would have moved to an alternate hotel. We should have been given a credit for one days stay as it was unsafe for us to stay there.
