Decent accomodations for cheap price
The hotel is clearly very old, but for the price it was worth it. The parking garage is terrifying because the aisles are so narrow and you can tell hundreds of people have crashed their cars in there. They also charge you an additional $25 for parking...sucky. However if you are up for the walk it is technically walking distance to gaslamp. Also the radio didn't work, there was no air or fans, and the balcony's are disgusting. BUT if you are going to gaslamp to party and don't need to be in the room for long this is a great place! Beds were comfy!

excellent all around
We were there for one night only w/ 2 young children, very chic and hip lobby, warm cookies upon arrival, lemon water dispenser in lobby, excellent restaurant, we were there on a saturday and they had a great happy hour: half price appetizers and drinks, and free quesadillas tilll 7PM which was great w/ the little ones b/c we did not have to leave the hotel to have a great dinner (the dinner menu was great too) after a long day of sightseeing. Breakfast was great too. It is in a great location, a 10 minute walk to the water. Two negative things : it costs $20 to park at the hotel, but I easily found street parking and the bed was a little too soft, but I would still stay there again.

The restaurant
The hotel is nice and the rooms are clean and comfortable -- especially the bed! The bar tenders were great! The morning breakfast is good, but it is expensive. We all thought the restaurant at dinner was terrible. We tried two nights in a row and it's just awful food. Everything else about the hotel is fine, but for all 3 of us to agree, two nights in a row about the food, is inexcusable. Other than that, it's a good hotel and a good location. I do think the hotel and food are over-priced.

Comfortable Stay
We were greeted with a large, warm chocolate chip cookie when we checked in. Room was large and clean. Toilet was stopped up, but maintenance was there within minutes to change a part. Location was very central, but a little noise from freeway. Walking distance to Saturday's farmers market and Little Italy. We loved being so close many things and relied solely on public transportation. Would stay again.

Confernce stay
The conference and hotel were mostly great, really good location. The only complaint would be that some of the wait staff in the restaurant aren't very organized.

The room has a good veiw of the bay and the city both, there was a nice balcony. It has a free ViFi and except a frig and safe box the room had all needed facilities. It is near the bay, little Italy, gas lamp area and the railway station. staff are kind and helpful.

Weekend Getaway
My fiance and I took a quick weekend trip to San Diego for the weekend. Thumbs up for location of the hotel. Location is a short walk to Extraordinary Desserts which I always stop off at whenever I'm in town. It is close to Little Italy and to GasLamp District. Besides the location, King size bed and cookies I give the hotel a thumbs down. You can tell that it is a remodel of an older hotel. I'm use to having to swipe your hotel card to get to the other floors as a security standard, but since it is an older building it didn't have this feature. The entrance way for parking is definitely NARROW! We rented a compact car so it wasn't difficult to maneuver through the floors. But I did watch other guests have an interesting time driving through the parking lot in their SUVs. Also note that there is a $22/day parking fee. I have read about the plumbing of the hotel but didn't experience it until the second night. We were awaken by a loud gurgling sound. It was as though something was overflowing. When I got up at 5am to check, I think it had to do with the drain from the shower. I had to close the bathroom door to muffle the strange sounds.
