Disappointing through and through

I have stayed at this property before and was somewhat okay with it, but this time it was truly a disappointment. A door lock that consistently did not work (we had to get new key cards every day), sloppy housekeeping, noisy bathroom fan, horrid breakfast, and a staff that doesn't really seem to understand customer service. If I had not prepayed this hotel for a week I would have checked out after the first night.

stayed for one night

The hotel is located right next to the freeway so the noise was loud since our room was facing it. It had a big full kitchen which would be a plus to a family staying there for a longer time, but all in all, everything needed a lot of updating.

Horrible room

Room promised was supposed to be a non smoking room but it smelled horrible and our 3 year old threw up all night because of the smell. Not only that but we could hear the conversations from the room next door all night. Also, no kitchen as promised. We checked ou after that first night, no way were we going to stay there another night! We only stayed that first night because we checked in so late that we didn't really have much of an option.

Not the worst part of the trip

I went to San Diego to stand vigil at my father-in-law's bedside while he wasted away and eventually died from lymphoma. That was the worst part of the trip. Compared to that, my stay at the Days Inn was decent but nothing to write home about. The deadbolt was broken in the room I was in and there was a huge gap under the door, making me feel slightly unsafe. Thankfully I had other things to occupy my mind and didn't care much. The staff was reasonable. They got me in and out without much hassle, and that was good. They gave me extra pillows when I asked, too, which was very nice of them.

Kaiser Permanente up on Zion was very friendly and I recommend them if you are choosing where to die.

Hotel with a kitchen 2 save money

I loved the kitchen with a stove, microwave, and a full size refrierator. It provided the other necessities of a hotel room. The freeway is nearby, but you don't hear the noise. Its an easy drive to Seaworld, the zoo, etc from here too. The one bad thing was the toilet didn't work on our 4th of 5 nights at about 12am and when I called the front desk I was told maintenance would be told in the morning. When the 3 of us left at 930 am the toilet still wasn't looked at.

Clean and adequate

I went with my husband and 10 month old for a few days of vacation in San Diego. The hotel was a little off the beaten path, so you definitely need a rental car. There is free parking and we always found a spot (usually in the garage right by the elevator). The rooms were very clean and were perfectly fine for us. We were looking for a hotel that was affordable and clean. There were kitchens with stove/fridge/sink. No utensils or pots/pans. The pool was clean and we went swimming with our baby when it was 70 degrees outside (the pool was not cold). Overall, I would recommend it to people looking for somewhere to crash that's clean and affordable. It worked for us!

Comic Con

I didn't spend too much time at the hotel because I was mostly at the San Diego Convention or near it. The time that I did spend at the hotel was nice. They had a continental breakfast on the first floor near the elevator. It was kind of quiet except for one night when someone above us sounded like they were jumping on the floor.

Just OK

Claims to be a 2 star. Should be a one star. Some of the staff didn't speak English. The pool and spa was nice. Breakfast wasn't anything special. Food was ok, but looked like a converted laundry room with a TV.
