Great Experience
Jen Sep 14, 2009
My experience at the hotel was great. They offer professional massages, which I took advantage of and thoroughly enjoyed. ... The only thing that I thought could be better was the outside of the hotel. When pulling up to the hotel I wasn't sure about staying there because it almost appears to not have been updated since the 80's. However once insides I was very impressed. A little facelift for the outside would be good.

Night away from home
Just Me! Sep 14, 2009
This was just a quick night away from the everyday stresses of reality, not far from home. The ambience of the hotel was ... just what I needed to feel like I was actually on vacation. The rooms are spacious and have balconies w/amazing views of the mission valley hills. The tropical atmosphere instantly calms you.

Great Stay
Mom of 3. Sep 8, 2009
We really enjoyed our stay. The room was clean and the staff was very friendly. I loved the balcony in the room for our ... kids to enjoy the outdoor while we were getting ready to go out. I would recommend this hotel to anyone. The only thing that was dissappointing was that we had to pay for parking. With the price of the room the parking should have been included or a reduced price.

Great location for Destination Parks
Family of Four Aug 21, 2009
Hotel is accessible and is close to freeways so you can get to your destinations quite easily. We went to the San Diego Zoo, ... Balboa Park and Gas Lamp district for dinner. The hotel staff was very nice, the room was clean and the island theme added to the relaxation after a long day at parks. The pool and the jacuzzi were nice amenities. Would have liked to have a mini refrigerator in the room.

NOT PLEASED
Unhappy Cory Aug 7, 2009
We arrived and our room key did not work. We had to wait for maintenance. Room not very clean. Our guest coffee machine ... was missing the coffee. The athletic center was very poor, not well equipped. Our room was adjacent to the maintenance room so the maids were coming and going all day. We were looking for a hotel to call our own, because my daughter is attending SDSU starting this year so we will be using a hotel numerous times over the next for years. We will not be going back to this hotel. It is too bad, because the location was great.

beautiful paradise escape
Slumber Parties by Marcelle Jul 16, 2009
This place impressed me with the waterfalls and ambiance. I was awed at the interior design, and great bell service, we ... greatly appreciated the shuttle. we went to the zoo (however it only left once per day) and I needed to get to the mall so the mile-radius provided was useful. maid/towel service: I had accidentally left out our privacy sign all day saturday but still the next morning we did not get any service. I had taken it down after a saturday night, while expecting service on sunday morning. we had been there since friday evening (skipping service saturday) and were away for a good part of sunday, only to return to our room after swimming and working out in the gym without fresh towels (we were out of them after being there 2 days) I had to call the front desk to request maid service in the afternoon, but it should have appeared while we were away earlier in the day. my fiance was unsure about the one treadmill in the gym-he's military and exercises every day fairly extensively-3 mile runs norm. he was afraid it was dysfunctional because it would not keep up? The location, however, was not within walking distance to many restaurants. I am from the east coast and did find the prices to be a bit steep, but the food was great, and a nice barbeque on saturday for a quick dinner. we ate at the steakhouse next door and it was very convenient and casual, but the with the freeway dividing other options (we had no car) I was a bit limited to dining as for location/transportation, I was not pleased at the taxi fare to and from the beach. I also did not know of any other area attractions that would have been great recreation without paying too much. room service was too expensive to consider, but the restaurant prices were not much less. I would have preferred a complimentary breakfast of simple coffee and pastries than the buffet price of $16 per person; I did not take part in the huge offering, however my fiance did. all in all i greatly enjoyed my stay-this is the first time i'd done a 3-star hotel (instead of 1 or 2) and i think once the sticker shock of california wears off...I definately t believe i got the value tha ti paid for. it was hard to find a mid-range but still a little luxury hotel in the area (close to the airport) but the Crowne Plaza was a great fit for my needs.

great place to stay
fun lover Jul 14, 2009
Thought the overall experience was great. The staff is very friendly and helpful. We did have to ask for extra towels but ... that was taken care of within 10 minutes. Everything is within a relatively short driving distance (Zoo, Sea World, beaches). The buffet was a little pricey but thought the menu prices were reasonable. My only complaint would have been the housekeeping staff could have been a little more thorough when vacuuming and cleaning of the corners of the room and bathroom - not just the cursory cleaning of the main area. Other wise it was a great place to stay - we were in a room overlooking the golf course and it was very quiet at night - which was surprising considering we stayed over a weekend.

Had planned on going to Sea World, Old Town and to the beach.Did not find a good beach in San Diego, so ended up going to La ... Joya, and the beach was great. We and the children really enjoyed it. The hotel location is very good; away from the down town traffic and the views from the hotel are much better than at a down town hotel. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. We would like to go back to this hotel.

The location is FABULOUS. The hotel is located just minutes from Sea World, San Diego Zoo, Old Town etc. We had a great ... view from our balcony and our room was clean. The hotel was lacking the amenities that make you feel like you are a special guest on vacation. There were no extras; everything came with a price...parking, internet service, breakfast etc.

Stayed for one night. Room was fine, big and clean. Suff was friendly. It was a little bit annoying that they had no taxis ... waiting - so without a car it is not super convenient. The area itself is not very nice - so I think it's a great place if you have to spend a night or two in San Diego and want to get good accommodation for a great price.

There is The Old Town which is about a 5 minute ride. There is also a trolley that you can take which doesn't cost much and you can take a tour. You get on and off where ever you want. There are also alot of different places to eat that are close by. We did not eat at the hotel. Food was a little pricey for us.
