Overall the visit was great. The service was friendly and the check in process was effortless. The location was amazing, ... centered right between the bay and the beach. The room was very quiet and the beds were extremely comfortable. The only negative aspects of the visit was that parking was $13 in spite of there being plenty of spaces available in the parking structure. Also, we had a suite with a kitchen. The suite was very nice but the kitchen was a little dated and it was not very well stocked. I highly recommend bringing some paper towels or napkins, since there were none in the room, as well as a non-stick pan if you are used to cooking with them. I had difficulty using the pans that were provided. But it did offer me the opportunity to cook some meals which was great.

World Famous Restaurant practically across the street. Monday nights during football season all appetizers were 50% off. Not just your typical wings/nachos either. We had seared ahi, oysters, and scallops. Amazing!

CaTake a short walk to a restaurant on Pacific Beach called World Famous. The food is wonderful. Make reservations on a weekend, as it can be a long wait. Great seafood. Went kayaking at the caves in La Jolla caves, fun. About $80 for a double. Saw a lot of seals on nearby beach. Torrey Pines State Park is beautiful also, with scenery as good as Hawaii. Lots of fun trails there.

a good weekend get away
weekend traveler Nov 3, 2009
location was excellent for walking to the beach and the bay. many small restaurants very close in walking distance. the free ... boat ride around the bay was fun. the staff was very courteous and the concierge had very good suggestions for dining, coffee houses and places to visit in the area. the on site dining was disappointing in that there was only the one main restaurant which didn't have much for small meals for a quick bite to eat. can't beatthe location for access to many things to do and the view from the tower's room was great.

TommyC Oct 20, 2009
We have been guests at the Catamaran several times over the years. We love the hotel location and the amenities of the ... property. We took several tours of SD sites, which the hotel assisted in arranging. We had a great time! One small disappointment: the Catamaran website indicated that the stay would include a complimentary breakfast each day. None of the staff seemed to know anything about this nor did they offer to look into the matter. We will definitely continue to consider the Catamaran for our future San Diego visits.

We found the location to be excellent. We were able to see the bay, the ocean and beautiful garden area from our room. The ... rooms were very clean and the staff was very nice. Garden, ocean and pool areas were wonderful. The only concern we had were to how the dishware was being cleaned as to there was no dish soap and the dishes were being cleaned and put away however we found the to still be dirty.

Our stay at the Catamaran was lovely. While we didn't actually use the pool, it was beautiful and there was also a hot tub ... available. It was a very peaceful and serene trip and everyone one at the front desk and concierge desk was very accommodating. The hotel sits on the back and they offer many water sports. My husband and I used the Fat Cat which is like a battery operated floating lounge chair for two. It was alot of fun and relaxing. We also ate outside using the bar menu and found sitting outside in the evening very comfortable. The only small disappointment was that their website shows their garden rooms as having a sofa in them which our did not. Also I thought the garden rooms would look out over beautifully lanscaped flowers. Our looked out over pool but all in all great experience! Would definitely go there again.
