Great experience
The hotel was centrally located for everything we wanted to do in the San Diego area. It was quiet, but in the heart of things. The landscaping was beautiful, the pool and hot tub were pleasant, the gym was more than sufficient and in fact had a great area to work out on a patio overlooking Mission Bay. We did not eat in the restaurant, but didn't need to because there was so much to choose from in the neighborhood. Parking was easy, staff were very friendly and we had as much fun with their birds and ducks as we did at the zoo!

For a quick lunch, there was a great taco stand just to the left of the hotel's main entrance--good Mexican food for a cheap price.

Highly recommended
The place was absolutely beautiful and very well maintained. The outside as well as the inside decor with the fish as well as the birds was that of a tropical atmosphere without the humidity. The outdoor brunch, although a bit expensive, was delicious. The spa was great, my masseuse [...] was great! Waking up to the view of the bay in front of us and the ocean to our right from our porch was the icing on the cake! I highly recommend the Catamaran Resort & Spa in San Diego.

Short drive from hotel
We drove to the Gas lamp district in La Jolla and did a restaurant hop through a company called So Diego Tours. It was cheap and fantastic. They set everything up for you. You just stroll through the majestic sites in the city and enjoy the V.P. treatment at every restaurant your personnel tour guide takes you to. Afterwards we came back to the hotel and sat outside by a beautiful lava stone fire pit. The Catamaran Resort & Spa in San Diego sits right on mission Bay. It just does get any better!

great resort for a great value
This was such a great resort. My friend and I went here for a fun spring break for 5 days and had a BLAST! We got a really great deal on our trip, which made our experience all the more enjoyable. Forget the San Diego zoo (which we were to cheap to pay for), the Catamaran has it's own bird sanctuary with lots of different birds milling around the resort-ducks, swans, parrots, macaws. The premises are beautiful; you have two beaches to choose from-either the bay or the ocean. The rooms are neat and spacious and the beds are incredibly comfortable. The fitness center looks out over the bay and was much better than comparable facilities I have used in the past at other resorts. We're college students so our standards might be slightly lower, but I still thought this place was absolutely beautiful, comfortable, and relaxing. Once you book your trip, all you need to hope for is good weather!

Short walk from hotel
We had one meal at the hotel, and it was good, but overpriced (at least for a pair of college students). My advice is to walk two blocks north (to your right after exiting) and try some of the local fare. Happy hours are often from 4-7 or 4-8 and you can get some great deals on meals and drinks. There's also Starbucks, Subway, Burger King, and other similar chains for a fast, cheap breakfast.

Great Place
What a great place, beautiful. Great staff, very helpful. Convenient, take your pick, pool/bay/ocean all were very nice. Would stay again!! Spring break brought in bus load of kids, was somewhat noisy at times but still ok. Staff did a great job & it never seemed too crowded.

Perfect Family Vacation
The upgraded garden level room was newly decorated in a Polynesian motif. Beautiful tropical landscape with exotic trees, ducks, birds, green grass, lighted tikki torches at night, and great pool and game room made this a special family vacation. Having the beach across the street was very convenient. Walking distance to everything. We didn't use the restaurant or spa but the fitness room was state of the art. No yoga classes in the Spring though.

Paradise in San Diego
The hotel location was excellent for families wanting to spend time at the ocean. The theme of the hotel is tropical and very nicely decorated. Suggestions for kids would have been helpful for the local experience, we found some terrific local places near the end of our trip and I wish we had discovered them sooner. This was my first long distance vacation with just my son and I. I was very comfortable in the surroundings at the hotel. The hotel room was on the first floor with a patio that opened up to a magnificent view of the bay. We absolutely loved spending time by the water although it was too cold to swim in the bay. My son enjoyed spending time in the heated pool and arcade area. We walked one block from the hotel to the ocean. The area offers so much to explore. We spent one day whale watching and exploring the waterfront of downtown SD. We spent two days at legoland and sealife. We spent one day visiting family and the remaining days we hung out around the hotel and enjoyed the experience and relaxed. Be sure to plan time to enjoy the hotel and bike riding at the bay.

The hotel has a terrific outdoor place for dining but it is expensive. There is a Ralph's grocery a few blocks from the hotel. There is also a terrific taco stand a half block from the hotel. I would recommend going to the grocery store for drinks and snacks for the room to save some cash.

Great Place to Stay
Couldn't have made a better choice. The location was great and everything San Diego has to offer was only minutes away. It's even better with having the Bay right there to lay on the beach and the ocean is just a short walk away as well. The room was great, was in one of the Studios with a bay view. The only real down side was having to pay for parking each night...but would certainly stay there again.

Short drive from hotel
One of my favorite spots to explore was Old Town. It's just a short drive away, and just a beautiful spot to spend a few hours going in and out of shops, the restaurants, plus the old south west setting was great.
