great location, awesome staff
@ blocks to the beach, close to eateries, surf shops, and nightlife. Close to laJolla. The staff are the best. Supposed to be free arcade but that didn't really happen as someone else aparently owns the machines.

A little more to be desired
The location of the hotel was great. A block away from the ocean, as well as restaurants and the 8 bus line. The staff was helpful and had great suggestions for meals and activities. However, the room was less than desirable. The hotel seemed to be divided by class and social status. Our room did not have a poolside view as advertised, or any view at all. Nor were the beds spacious and comfortable as claimed by the website. The bathroom was the standard holiday inn hotel bathroom, not the resort, sunny, bright or airy as stated. The description of the room described something that it was not. The hotel was not terrible, just expensive for what was offered.

Short walk from hotel
Take public transportation. The attractions in San Diego are very spaced apart and easily accessible by the metro transit system. Be sure to buy the day pass which is an easy $5.00 for all day use. Cabs become very costly quickly in this city. Be patient and take the bus. The buses offer a quick hop and a step to Hillcrest the GLBT district of San Diego.

Great Location
Cost for parking service was an unexpected expense. Be prepare to pay $13.00 per day or about $17 per day for valet, since they do not own the parking area. Otherwise, everything else was great.

Too short
Sun, Sun, Sun. Coming from Seattle, our goal was, of course, Sun, and beaches. The Catamaran supplies both. You have the Bay in front of you, and (1) block away, you have the Pacific ocean. Our dining experience, was with local restaurants. They are with-in walking distance, and have views of our great Pacific. Reccommend those on the boardwalk. You will know them, because they are packed with people like your-selves.

A REALLY Beautiful Place.
The resort is excellent. If you're looking to just relax, you would not need to leave the grounds. If you want to be close to San Diego's attractions (SeaWorld, Zoo, Seaport Village, Old Town, Balboa Park, Little Italy), they are all within 15 minutes drive or easily gotten to via Public Transportation. Loads of Restaurants within walking distance.

"Classy for an affordable price!"
Wonderful resort. We stayed for 5 nights during Fourth of July. Access to beach adjoining hotel was so easy. Nightly beach activities. Security on site. Nice size pool, clean area. Towels available poolside were large! Landscaping at hotel was beautiful. Easy walking distance to tons of wonderful eating places and tons of shopping. Catered to our every need. We ended up with a studio in the tower. Being able to go on the balcony each morning and enjoy the ocean view was so great. The cruise ship was a nice relaxing evening activity. Would stay again and again.

Tony Romas half a block away, I-hop has a great all day menu and only a few blocks away. We walked our butts off, but saw so much and did have a terrific time. Charlies bar and grill have excellent food and just right down from I-hop.

The Busy Bridesmaid
Amazing
I stayed at the Catamaran because my friend was getting married there. This hotel was amazing! I was running around so much with wedding obligations though that I didn't get to experience the pool, restaurant, or beach. I will certainly be back to take it all in though! My only complaint is that the elevators in the tower smelt funny. I think it's because there is carpet on the floor and so many people are standing on it dripping wet. The tower elevators were slow too. But that's to be expected with 13 floors.

Nice Hotel
The hotel was very nice, it is close to the beach and the bay. There is a lot of good restaurants within walking distance to the hotel and the staff are very nice. The pool was also very nice. The hotel rooms should be updated for the price, but overall it was a good experience. The room cleaning staff could do a better job too, there was hair all over the bathroom upon arrival.
