WONDERFUL!

This is a GREAT hotel! It is far enough away to where you get that "resort" feel, then again close enough to everything there ... is to do and see in San Diego! We loved it! The hotel staff was very helpful and accommodating. The fitness center was great...we used it once during our stay! We also utilized the outdoor walking path right along the water...just breathtaking! The hotel was very clean...I mean VERY clean (from the inside out...literally...including the pool and hot tub)! The only thing we regret was that we didn't have enough time during our stay to utilize their free bicycles...that would have been fun! This will always be our hotel of choice whenever we visit San Diego in the future! Search no more...stay here!

We got a room with a view of the marina - let me tell you, I can get use to waking up to this view! It simply was beautiful ... and calming to see all of the yachts. The room was spacious and clean, the staff was attentive, the pool and jacuzzi were amazing especially for a night swim/dip and their Blue Wave restaurant was great. We would definitely stay here again - trust me, you would never think it's a Best Western hotel!

The hotel was very clean, everyone was very friendly. The heated pool was terrific. The surrounding scenery was very ... soothing. It was almost perfect, if not for the fact I could hear the people above me getting in and out of their squeaky bed and walking around on the squeaky floor. Wasn't terrible, but if I wasn't so tired every night, I might've have a hard time getting to sleep. Other than that, all was perfect. We received a free upgrade to a "Junior Suite"

My boyfriend and I stayed here for a week while vacationing in San Diego. We had a great time here and would deffinately stay ... here again. We loved how it was located on the island so it had a resort feel but was only minutes to all the attractions, downtown, oldtown, beaches, harbor, zoo. We were within 10-15 mins of everything, not to mention 5 mins from the airport. The staff was amazingly friendly everyday as well as housekeeping. If we needed anything, such as extra towels, they were right there. the rooms were a little small, but we werent in there that much anyway. The bathroom(most importantly) was very nice and spacious. The carpet was wet when we checked in but after telling front desk, they said the carpets had been shampooed and were booked solid and didnt have another room for us to switch to. We didnt mind, it was dry by morning and we had one of the best veiws of the place.At least we knew the carpets were clean! the restaurant had delicious food, as well as great service. pool/spa area were very clean and inviting. The surrounding area was very scenic. we went for walks around the island/marina daily. the only downside to the place was there werent any microwaves in the rooms. there was a fridge, but staying there a week, we had a lot of leftover dinners and couldnt reheat anything. Maybe the suites had them, but not in our room. And because there wasnt a breakfast area, only the restaurant (which we asked if they could reheat & said it was against policy), we just had to toss them out. So no continental breakfast either. All in all, we would deffinatley stay here again!

I would stay here again if I found a great [...] price like I did this time. But I would never stay here for full price.The ... hotel grounds are well-maintained and the view of the harbor is very pretty.However, it's hard to get downtown San Diego if you choose not to rent a car. A downtown location might be better if you're only in town for a couple days.Additionally, the hotel staff was pleasant but not entirely accommodating. We asked for a room with 2 double beds, but were given a king bed and told there were no other available rooms. We also found an opened condom wrapper on the floor of our room. When we called the front desk to tell them, they weren't very amenable and again told us they couldn't move us. They didn't send a hotel staff member to check the room and didn't seem to care that we were grossed out by said condom wrapper.

This is a very nice hotel in a beautiful location. We spent four nights in the new building and we were pleased with our ... room. Unfortunately the hotel restaurant was not very good; we ate breakfast in it the first morning and never went again. The service was slow as molasses and the food was not worth the price we paid, the servers hardly paid attention to us. My advice, sleep here and eat breakfast at The Dana on Mission Bay.

This was our first trip to San Diego.......absolutely wonderful weather and friendly staff. Staff was extremely helpful with ... directions to various sites we might enjoy. Also helpful with recommendations for "kid fare" in the neighborhood. We enjoyed visiting Legoland Acquarium, Sea World, Wild Animal Park and the San Diego Zoo.

Make your reservations carefully at this hotel. Request or make reservations for the Casa Del Mar Building and not the ... Island Palms older side of this hotel. 1st night in older side we had BAD mattress. 2nd night we had a roach in one room and transferred to a room in the Casa Del Mar Building what a difference! Through all this the staff was polite and eager to please. Great location and view. Hotel Resturant was so so for food and service not great for lunch.

The hotel is a little off the beaten path, but still close to everything, and it's a great little find. The hotel has a fun ... tiki theme that does not come off as cheesy. And it backs up to a marina with deep sea fishing boats and yachats. The whole atmosphere is fun and relaxing like Key West.

One of the best restaurants in town(for food and service) is Di Medici. The attention and care one receives from the staff and the owner is unsurpassed. The atmosphere is very warm and inviting. The selection of seafood and Italian traditional dishes is unbeatable. For a taste of Southern Italian hospitality go to Di Medici. The owner makes you feel like you are his very special guest. We had an unforgettable time at this restaurant.
