Vacation and Convention

We had a great veiw of San Diego Harbor which was just across the street! There was a great walkway along the harbor with picnic tables and places to sit and a small sandy beach if that what you like. Always large Navy and Cruise ships silently floating in and out of the bay which is fun to see! The breakfast buffet was delicious and always a friendly wait staff to help with coffee and drinks. There is a 5 dollar a day parking fee if you park in their lot. But there is public parking on the side of the street and across the street in the park. 5 dollars to park in San Diego is CHEAP! and they do have security watching the lot. Great location it took 15 minutes to get to the convention center , Embarkadero,Midway, and same to Cabrillo National Park in the opposite direction if you like Lighthouses and a wonderful veiw of San Diego and the harbor. The Sunset Cliffs are a must see just north of the park. We would definatly return to the Bay Club again. I \

Great location but tired physical plant

The sunrise in front of the hotel is breathtaking. All public spaces are appropriately updated, but the room smells and feels old. The king room is very generously proportioned, but the was little furniture in the room to fill the space (a loveseat or sofa would have been nice). The buffet breakfast is great, and the staff is one of the most helpful that I have encountered.

Close to Airport and Marine Graduation

Our second stay at the Bay Club..........son's graduated from the MCRD one year apart. There are accommodations closer to the MCRD but the roads in the area are very straight forward, making the Bay Club easy to access. We were happy to pay a few dollars more for a Marina View room with very nice buffet breakfast vs. a motel fronting I-5 with a typical continental breakfast. Parking was plentiful (underground parking garage) but we weren't aware there was a $5.00 per day charge (which is acceptable..........just a bit "shocked"). The Room: Though I slept well-enough, I would not call the bed "plush". Pillows were fine, TV and Wireless internet had a strong signal, plenty of hot water, nice towels, balcony fronting the marina with excellent view (small stingrays swimming by). Breakfast: Scrambled eggs, country potatoes, bacon, sausage, french toast, breakfast quesadillas, patries (typical), indoor/outdoor seating. The Bay Club is worth considering if you're look for something that is a step above Holiday Inn Express (which isn't a bad deal itself).

Excellent location, friendly and helpful staff

We always stay at the Bay Club. The location is perfect. From our room we could see the San Diego skyline, the USS Nimitz aircraft carrier coming into port, jet fighter planes taking off from North Island and sailboats and pelicans dotting the harbor. Within a short distance to major attractions like the zoo, Coronado Beach, Sea World and Balboa Park. The staff is always so friendly, and they go out of their way to be helpful. The morning breakfast has a decent variety of food, and you can sit at a window table looking out upon the marina. Room decor is dated, however.

Bay Club Marina review

Positives - hotel is very clean in a quiet area with great views of the bay and the marina. The staff were all very polite and helpful. neutral - hotel is very old and the rooms could use some updating. the room was not bad, but bathroom tiles were "70's vintage. room smelled a little musty when air was not on but was not noticeable when ac was running. hotel is also in a very old part of town. negative - the only negative comment would be with the free breakfast buffet. the food was decent however, it was the same every day. we were there for 7 days and it was always the same, with the exception that the scrambled eggs had different additions each day

Great place, but expected a bit more for the $.

Great for location for a view & to walk by the bay water front. Easy access to get to airport (10 min) & SD's downtown (12-15 min). Above & underground parking at $5/day. Laundry room came in handy, since I was there for nearly 2 weeks. Pool is a joke, only 5 ft. deep & size of a postage stamp! Room location was on the quiet side of the hotel. The opposite side of this hotel abuts another hotel with a nightclub. Can be nice to hear free live music, if you like that sort of thing. Small refrig. in the room, but no microwave. The queen beds were firm,& clean. The bathroom was small, but clean (no mold), the fan didn't work in my BR. But the only real room discomfort was the hard, bamboo chair to sit on & watch a football game. For the money they should have at least one easy chair to sit in & watch TV or read. The included breakfast was a hot meal, but the same thing every morning. Too few servers, especially on the crowded weekends, took forever to get coffee refills. Front desk & housekeeping personnel gave me excellent service. As a single female traveler, I felt safe here. A prevous San Diego trip I stayed at "the next door neighbors" hotel to this one, & I'd return for a stay at either place.

Great location

The hotel is so close to everything; shopping, dining, beaches, attractions. The staff is very pleasant and helpful. The breakfast buffet is plentiful. The rooms have everything you need. The only thing that was an issue is that the walls are thin and you can hear the people in the other rooms. I would recommend they add a kitchenette in the main area for people to heat their meals or use the main fridge for things to last and add a screen door in all the rooms, so people can keep the sliding door open without anything flying in. But overall, we would stay at this hotel again. It was great!!

Great Week

All staff that we dealt with were very friendly, helpful, and cooperative. For example we arrived nearly three hours before checkin after a long day in planes and airports and we were tired and hungry, so we went to the hotel restraunt to eat and relax. It was shortly after we ordered that the desk clerk sought us out in the restraunt and handed us our room keys saying we looked tired so he arranged to have our room ready early. this helpful attitude prevailed throughout our seven day stay.
