A solid location to stay in San Diego

The Bay Club Hotel and Marina is located right on the San Diego Bay on Shelter Island which is very close to the airport and downtown. Our room and the dining room faced the marina and we were able to see ships leaving and entering the bay. The hotel staff were friendly and a buffet breakfast was offered as part of our rate which was great. We didn't swim in the pool but it appeared clean and we saw families using it. The hotel has an older feel to it but was generally kept up - we had a larger flat screen TV in our room. Our room was big enough that if we had to put a crib or cot in it, that would have been fine. I don't think you'll be overwhelmed by how "fancy" this hotel is but I felt it was good value and had a great location!

Check out Little Italy. Not super touristy and there was a row of delectable looking restaurants. We visited Davanti on a tip from a local and LOVED our lunch there!

Nice semi-luxurious hotel.

Although the rooms were nice and quiet, the staff was not all too great. I was originally double charged for my room, and my account was getting very low for my trip due to that fact. The parking was not great for the car I had, and the fact that it was extra for very little parking space was kind of annoying. The rooms were clean, and the view was decent. Not quite the luxury I had hoped, but wasn't a bad choice and was pretty comfortable to sleep in.

Great Destination for Family Spring Break

This was a great place to stay for our first trip to San Diego. From our hotel, it took no longer than 15 mintues to get to our 3 main destinations: Sea World, San Diego Zoo, and the USS Midway Museum. The hotel is located on a peninsula so you get a great view no matter which room you get and there is very litte traffic. They have a very good breakfast buffet which is free except for any tips you want to leave for the wait staff. Everyone was very friendly and helpful. We ate once at the on-site restaurant and it was very good (prices a bit high for supper menu but reasonable for lunch). On the negative side: parking spots are incredibly small (but this seems to be the norm in San Diego), you can hear jets and helicopters almost constantly (but this also seems to be the norm wherever we went in San Diego), and there was a severe shortage of hot water around 8am every day we were there.

Corvette's Diner is a nearby 50's style restaurant that is very kid friendly..think Chuck E Cheese meets Happy Days. The roving magician was a blast and he had my youngest son laughing which is a very hard to do.

Perfect combination!

The value, location, and amenities were superb. The room was clean and comfortable. The breakfast in the morning offered more than enough options to satisfy all eaters but tied me over until late afternoon. The staff was friendly and personable and remembered what I liked from one day to the next. I would stay there again.

great value for location

The hotel was a great value for locatio including an ecellent breakfast buffet, great happy hour in bar (great prices on drinks & appetizers) and reasonable fee for parking ($5 compared to some outrageous rate in area). Close to airport and major attractions. Very pleased with value & amenities.

Awsome room, great breakfast

We stayed for 5 nights. The hotel staff as superb from the desk staff to the cleaning staff. Breakfast was included in the cost of the stay. Which was great buffet style and helpful staff. If I had to complain about anything it would be the bartenders. There were two female ones with the what do you want attitude. I consider it a challenge for me to make people like smile, and I was successful every time. Parking was five dollars a day, not bad. I will be going be going there again and staying in room #259. Thanks for everything Bay View.

College Visit

We were visiting a local college. Huge flat screen t.v. in room was great. Breakfast buffet was outstanding. Property was pretty. Good location. Room service (supper) was just o.k.. Sink filled up with water when washing. Bathtub had dripping faucet.
