BEST WESTERN PLUS Blue Sea Lodge

Great location, nice that they have a hot tub and the pool right + they're right on the beach.

This hotel is right on the beach so the location was perfect! There is countless bars/restaurants/shops/grocery stores walking distance from us. You can literally be relaxing in the hot tub while looking out at the ocean. Our room was literally a few steps from the Jacuzzi which was awesome. Staff was very friendly and took care of us. Check in wasn't until 4 but they got us in as soon as possible so by 2 we had our room. While we waited a couple hrs from the time we arrived, the front staff gave us coupons for a free appetizer at a nice brewery/kebob place a few feet away. The room wasn't big but fine for 2 ppl, microwave, fridge, table, comfy bed, clean and nice decor. We will definitely be coming back when the weather is nicer so we can really take advantage of the incredible location!

Basic hotel but with balconies, which had a partial ocean view. Most view was dominated by public parking. Speaking of parking, it wasn't ideal. We were lucky and managed to catch a public spot each night. If we hadn't, hotel parking was $18 a day. Heated pool and hot tub. Both protected from the wind with glass partitions. Direct beach access from pool area. Lots of restaurants within walking distance. Went during spring break. A lot of drunk high school / college age kids. Occasional smells of marijuana and alcohol or loud noise. Hotel did it's best to control it, including evicting our neighbors sometime during the night.

I flew to CA from OH to celebrate my birthday with my daughter and son, who both live in CA. We had a wonderful time staying on the beach at the Best Western Blue Sea Lodge in San Diego. The room was clean and nice and the staff was friendly and helpful. We wished the weather had been warmer but we still had a great time. It will always be a special birthday and one I will never forget.

The location of this hotel is great. Why stay downtown when you can be 10 mins by car outside and stay right on Mission Beach, and still have plenty of eating and nightlife around you? While not fancy at all, this Best Western clean, safe and has a friendly and attentive staff that is eager to make your stay pleasant. If you spend the few extra bucks and get the ocean-view room you will be glad that you did. The sunsets and boardwalk people watching are terrific. There is pay parking in a garage available, or there is free public parking near by. Recommended for couples on a budget or families with kids who care more about being ont the beach than staying in the room.

helpful staff, nice and cheerful. clean room, confusing because i wanted 2 qn beds and got 1 qn bed and a sofa bed. partial view of ocean......amazing. while relaxing in room due to rain we were listening to ocean with slider open and someone was smoking pot and it was coming in the room so we had to close slider. ruined our listening enjoyment. walking on the beach, so beautiful. excellent hotel staff, we`'ll be back!

The hotel is located in the Heart of Mission Beach with a paved path along the beach for walking biking running ect. Everything you need is in walking distance with a short ride to Seaworld and the zoo.Hotel was clean and fairly quiet. Rentals for bikes and boards are everywhere. Beach is open all night so that was a plus that you could stroll the beach at night. Lifeguards on duty during the day was nice to see. Felt very safe at night out in public. The Hotel offers a nice breakfast in the lobby that was priced right. Looking forward to coming back next summer.

If this is what you're heading to California for, you can't do much better than the Blue Sea Lodge. This and the Surfer Hotel next door are the only motels along the surf walk on this stretch of Pacific Beach down to Mission. There are motels that are close, many along Mission Bay, but none closer to the ocean than Blue Sea. We found staff to be very friendly and helpful. This is not a resort or a four-start hotel. It's older and it shows, but it's run well and is clean and felt safe. Pool was clean and warm. We didn't do the spa (we don't do spas, as in ever), but it also looked clean.

Our overall experience was good. The staff was friendly. We had a very good view of the ocean. The hotel does not offer complimentary breakfast. Also the hotel charges their guest a $17 daily fee for parking at the hotel site. The hotel is right on the beach and within walking distance of very good restaurants and shops.
