Room Needs Update

Location and price was great. The office manager was friendly and helpful. The room is very outdated and needs remodeling. Musty smell due to wet carpet by sink. Whole in carpet near bathroom. Missing outlet cover. Bed makes some weird noise that I have never heard. Recommend with reservations. If looking for something nice, this is not it. We were hear only one night. I guess okay for one night, but would not want to be here longer.

Monterey Spring Break

Looking to take a short getaway during kid's spring break. Monterey and the world famous Monterey Bay Aquarium was just the place. Entertaining and educational for the kid. The Econo Lodge Salinas motel was clean, simple, and very inexpensive. It's also conveniently located and just a 20-25 minute drive to the aquarium and the 17 mile drive in Pebble Beach. The room itself was clean, but very bare bones. I believe that the motel advertisement for this room was that it had a refrigerator and also a microwave. However, there was neither in the room. It would have been nice to have those amenities, but it wasn't really that important anyway. The place had free continental breakfast and we were out of the room most of the time. Overall, if you want to save 50%-60% off the motel/hotel rates in Monterey, then staying in Salinas and the Econo Lodge was a good choice. My room rate quote for a Monterey-located motel was in the $200 per night range for that weekend. But the rate at the Econo Lodge was only about $80 a night for the same time period. The Econo Lodge motel was still close to the Monterey attractions and much more affordable. The extra money that was saved on the room went toward a nice dinner.

Money-saving tip: Short drive from hotel

The place is convenient to the highway to both the Monterey aquarium and Pebble Beach. The place can't be beat if you are willing to drive a little.

worst $ 200 motel ever

I don't mind old and used furniture, but the bathtub and the sink and the toilet needed a serious overhaul or at least a CLEANING!!!! Totally overpriced. Normal should have been $ 40 per night and not $ 220 plus tax.

What'sdasmell

The Econo Lodge in Salinas is an aging motel that has seen better days. It needs a complete makeover, not just a splash of paint. New carpeting, furniture, mattresses, and room amenities are in order. A single line for check in is also outdated.

it was what we expected

We attended the historic races in Monterey, we shopped purely on price, and in that respect the hotel delivered. Very good rate considering the area hotels really jack up their prices during this weekend. Was not too thrilled with Orbiz however, as we booked a non-smoking room, and almost got put into a smoking. Had to do some seious schmoozing to get out of that. Very nice staff at the hotel.

Not worth it

This hotel was very close to the freeway and easy to find. However, the hotel room was dirty (trash left from previous occupants) and had no towels. We arrived at the hotel very late and were too tired to make any changes that night. The beds were extremely uncomfortable and the deadbolt on the door was broken.

Good for rest stop

My daughter and I stayed at the Econo Lodge Salinas for 2 nights. It is a good room to just come and rest in and wash up in. It was warm on the days we stayed and the air conditioner was a plus. However, the first night stay, our toilet overflowed and wet the bathroom floor and the carpet area by the vanity. I would highly recommend wearing flip flops in room. The staff is very friendly and I was able to check in early!

Dining tip: Short walk from hotel

There are a few fast food places to walk or drive to. It was nice that they stay open either 24 hours or very late! Plenty of gas stations to either gas up or get a quick snack or drink.
