NO!! Since when is a Non-Smoking Room EXTRA??!
I made a booking at this hotel a few weeks ago for a recent Saturday night stay. The booking, as clearly stated in the email confirmation I received, was for a non-smoking room. We arrived later in the evening and, when I went to check in, was told that it would be an extra $30 for a non-smoking room! I showed the front desk attendant my email confirmation showing a non-smoking room had been booked. She was unconcerned and told me that I had to pay an extra $30 because they didn't have a non-smoking king bed room available--they only had a double. Given the empty parking lot, I was skeptical. I protested and then she told us quite flatly that we could either pay the $30 or she would call the police and have us escorted away. I tried to explain that, if anything, a smoking room merits an extra charge, not the other way around. Then she started to pick up the phone. What could we do?? We paid the $30 and went to bed. I called the travel company and they were very helpful and promptly issued me a $30 voucher. They tried to reason with the management of the hotel, to no avail. DO NOT stay at this place. It is one scam after another. I'm sure this is what they do to unsuspecting travelers. The room itself was unremarkable. The sheets had a slight stain on them. The hot water was adequate. The breakfast was passable.

A great place to stay
The room was clean and plenty of room to move around. The staff are nice...will definitely go back here on our next trip.

We stayed at this hotel to attend a wedding. I was apprehensive about choosing this hotel because there was not many reviews. I am sure glad I did. The staff was very friendly. Easy check in and out. Room was very clean and bed was comfortable. Spacious room with fridge and microwave. Breakfast was more than I expected. They had waffles, cereal, bagels, muffins, oatmeal, fruit, oj, apple juice, milk. Not bad for free. Good room for the price. I would stay again. Neighborhood could be better. In N Out Burger next door, and cafe right across from hotel.

very family friendly
the bed is kind of weird. they kept the plastic wrap on the mattress. however, the room is clean and they have free breakfast. the price is ok

My review of Best Western Salinas Monterey Hotel
This hotel was kept up well (looked like the lobby had be redone). Our room did have a slight ant problem and the wood furniture was sticky and had color rubbing off which got on a couple of our items. The hotel staff was nice enough and the hotel is right off the freeway which was really great for us.

There is a lot near this hotel such a shopping and food. Also, the Steinbeck center is just down the road and the Monterey Bay Aquarium is about 30 minutes away as well.
