The eternal glamour of politics feels downright marvelous at this stylish full-service hotel. The Citizen Hotel opened in fall 2008 in a historic 14-story, 83-year-old brick building, retaining hand-carved stair railings, vintage elevators and vaulted ceilings. Great Boutique Hotel

The room on the 11th floor had great views. The room was well decorated and the bed was great. The staff members were warm and welcoming. The hotel restaurant has a great menu. I really liked their selection for Brunch. They also have bartenders that know how to make a great drink!

Left Napa Waiting for our Flight from Sacaramento

What a treat!!!!! We were wineried out and left Napa early to get to the Citizen since our flight was out of Sacramento. This hotel is a GEM!!!!!! The rooms are so different, the bathrooms awesome, the bartenders took complete care of us!! We didn't eat at the restaurant since we were having so much fun eating apps & drinking at the bar but I'm sure the food was fantastic. Who would have thought the building was an insurance company before 2008. What a transformation. Definately do it again!

Awesome cozy cabins

Great place. The cabin was super-cozy and well-designed. Quality bed and mattress. Heat supplied by a gas fireplace - looks great and heats great. The only minor issues I have are the ridiculous double-faucet arrangement at the bathroom sink (yes, hot and cold water come from to SEPARATE faucets, good luck washing your hands!) and wireless, which is advertised on the website but was not working in our far-end cabin. Make sure you explicitly ask whether wireless is working in the cabin you are reserving. Other than that, great place - will stay again and will definitely recommend.

Last Minute Get Away

The staff from start to finish are awsome! Very personable and attentive, made us feel like regulars. The hotel is very cool with a great deal of character. Decorated with political sketched cartoons and quotes, the view of the state capital building from our room added a great touch to our stay. The room was extremely clean and the hotel very centrally located. We will definitely return!

Comfort, Class, & Style

We arrived late in the evening, the parking and front desk staff was extremely helpful and got us checked in very quickly. Upon arrival at our room the staff showed us how to use the latest technology, two flat screen TV's equipped with Apple TV. Over all very friendly helpful staff, room was very comfortable, and the room service was superb.

Just Ok

This was my first time at this hotel. All went smooth until check-in when I was told my check in was for the day before I arrived and I missed it. Of all the times I was happy to have the [...] confirmation on my phone. For scaring me and their error, they gave me a $20 credit to their bar and a small room upgrade to a corner room. The size of the corner room upgrade was normal, but I can see how their normal size rooms can be small. The hotel is in a very old building.

"OK, but not exemplary"

We checked in to the hotel in order to make easier a trip to Arco (i.e. Power Balance Pavilion) for Cirque de Soleil. Check in was flawless. We were slightly disappointed with the room. The Junior suite we were given was on the 8th floor, with a view of a tent on the 7th floor. It was small, less than the size of a standard hotel room. Service was good, the front desk staff people polite and attentive, and the valet people awful. Overall, I would book again at the Sheraton or Hyatt for downtown. I don't know if they are better, but I would try something different.
