very unhappy
First, the website was very misleading along with the photos of the room and bed. The only thing i can do is list what was wrong with everything, rugs dirty ceiling had water marks shower door had no handle water would come out when showering shower floor looked dirty towels looked like they had been there since the hotel was opened disappointing that the restaurant was not opened along with the bar. lobby decor looked like it was from the 50's could not find parking, had to wait I would never stay at this hotel again and I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

Scary
If you absolutely have to stay somewhere affordable then this would be a good place to stay. The good is that it is centrally located in a revitalized neighborhood. The bad is that this hotel is OLD, and is in need of care. It is run down, with warped floors and ancient carpets.

Great location, friendly staff
Stayed for two nights at the Clarion Mansion Inn. Location was great! Close to all the attractions in downtown Sacramento such as Old Sacramento, the state capitol and the governor's mansion. Easy access to the freeway. The staff was very friendly and helpful. And the rooms were generally well kept. The hotel does seem quite old and may not appear as nice because of that. But great as a place to sleep while traveling in Sacramento, and value can't be beat.

*Must Read* Save ur self a nightmare
This was worst hotel experience I have ever had. 4/14/12 Checked in at 2pm on a Saturday. The room blocked for me wasn't clean. After a long search (5+ minutes) in the computer, another room was found. The room I was told was clean and ready, feces floating in the bowl and a hand towel on the floor. The room smelt disgusting. After I lugged all my stuff back down to the lobby the lady at the desk apologized and told me no more rooms were available. I began to leave for the party I was in town for. Not till after I reloaded my bags into my car did she come out to the parking lot and offer another room. Nice of her to do so, but I had to carry everything back. No carts, no assistance. I freshened up and tried to iron my shirt for the party. The iron was scratched terribly and would have ripped my shirt if I tried to use it without noticing it's damage. The ironing board was filthy. The room again smelled foul, but I had no time left, so I left quickly for the party. That night when I returned, I did my best to sleep over the loud hum produced by the pool equipment. The hum ran all night continuously. At about 2:00am the sound of two men having relations woke me up. Not the hotel's fault, but still an awful thing to listen to. The next morning I was jarred awake by loud knocking and the call of "House keeping!" Normally not a big deal except I had 2 signs on the door saying,"Do Not Disturb." One was built into the door and one was stuck into the key slot on the outside. What was more annoying was that the maid still tried to open the door even though I was yelling back to go away and the door was dead bolted. I had to open the door to get her to leave. 10:00am and I'm almost dressed and ready to go home. I take a look around and see the stains on the carpet. Can't believe I was bare foot on it. It was horrid. Light shone through the curtain holes probably made from moths eating away at them. The ventilation system (AC) looked like mold had taken a serious hold over it. The panels under the unit were falling and rotting away. The bathroom condition was equally appalling. 10:15 House keeping again pounding on my door. I opened and pointed to the do not disturb signs and said, "What does this say right here?" She replied, "When are you checking out?" I answered, "When I'm done," and closed the door. I was furious. The front desk took my key and said, "Thanks." That's all. Nothing else. I would NEVER stay there again. The area is heavily populated with homeless people. I think it's near Loafs and Fishes. A food kitchen for the homeless. I would have spoken up more to the management, but when a place is that far gone, they obviously do not care. It wasn't one or two little things, but everything. The lobby smelled, rude staff, horrible location, disgusting rooms. The place should be condemned .

Time for a facelift
This is my second stay at this hotel in a year. The rooms are getting tired...paint needs freshening. Tiny toilet seats and showers not good if you anything above average in size. The continental breakfast was only fair.

Likes a quiet room
Sleep in your car
With the forced air heater rumbling on every 10-15 minutes you might as well sleep in your car...on the freeway. Everything else just fine; great mattress! Someone needs to upgrade the HVAC to modern standards, quiet hydronic heating retrofit is desperately needed as well as new bathroom ventilation..phew. Don't stay here if you're a light sleeper.

Past it's prime
From the moment we arrived, I could tell this was going to be a problem. The staff was watching tv in the lounge instead of attending the front desk. The hotel has very limited parking. The room, had a bathroom so cramped you could not really get to the toilet jammed in the corner between the tiny shower stall. There was a large open area outside the bathroom that they should have utilized for more bathroom space. The matress was hard and uncomfortable, with two twin box springs under a queen mattress. The room had a large sliding glass door that you can not lock and the downtown area of Sacramento has become much more run down and dangerous. Overall a horrible place to stay.

Nothing to write home about
Air conditioner was either on or off, the button and the thermostat had no variance, it either ran all the time or you shut it off. The slider would have given a grown man a hernia, it was very difficult to open, not good in an emergency. I believe there was a bar shown on the website, but the bar hasn't opened for more than a year. Toaster at breakfast (1) didn't work and when attendant was told he was aware. We were only there for one night and when we came back from dinner our friends key didn't work and had to walk back to the front desk to get a new key. Dead bolt on door broken.
