family vacation
The hotel and staff were nice. We were on a family vacation and visited old town often. The walk was a bit to far. We advise to taxi back after dark. The breakfast was the best of the hotels we visited in california. A indoor pool would of been nice for the kids. Having a resturant next door was convenient.

Great place!!
This was a great place to stay. We actually stayed in San Francisco the night before, and I would much rather have stayed here than the hotel we stayed at the night before. The staff was great. Location was perfect because its walking distance to many restaurants and bars, and the room was so comfortable, spacious, and nice.

Avoid the 12th Street rooms.
The hotel was a good value; however, the "2-queen standard rooms" are all located on the 12th Street side of the building. 12th street has an EXTREMELY busy light-rail track, and the rooms overlooking the street suffer the constant rumbles and vibrations of trains passing. The hotel staff was very gracious in allowing us to move across the hall (facing the courtyard), which made all the difference. We were quite disappointed that we couldn't adjust our pre-paid reservation from 3-nights down to 2-nights when our business finished early.

Conference Attendee
Good price, great accomodations!
I stayed here while attending a conference at the Sacramento Conference Center. It was a few blocks walk and well worth the savings. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The bed was extremely comfortable. A little noise from the train outside the window, but I still slept well. Would definately stay here again.

A happy setting for a horrible story
The hotel was a shiny gem. The service was great! They let us lock our bicycles in a secure area. Breakfast was great. The room was comfortable and attractive... But our bikes were stolen in old town! So... If this hotel was in any other city I would definitely stay there again!

Nightlife tip:
Long walk from hotel
Do not take bicycles to old town... No matter how big your lock is or how crowded and well lit it is. However 1022 is a great restaurant in old town.

Over Priced
Hotel was drastically overdue for remodel. For the price paid per night it had no microwave or access to refrigerator. Just a cut above Motel 6. Staff was not the most professional, I stayed in a cheaper hotel the next day still in Sacramento in which was a least 2 stars better.

Nice motel with nice staff
I only gave this place 3 stars because I don't believe any motel can really get any higher than that. But if you are looking for a nice clean room near many of California's state capitol attractions, or need to attend a court hearing, this is a great place to stay. It is only two very short blocks to the court house, and within a few miles of Sutter's Mill, the Capitol building, and other attractions. You won't find anything nice this cheap, this close to the action.

The restaurant right next door was nice, with specialty cocktails........ The calamari was great - nice and tender, where the breading was not overwhelming. They also provide the room service for the motel.
