There is something special about the history of the Napa Valley, and when you visit, Rancho Caymus wants you to experience some of that history. The Inn takes its name from land awarded in 1836 by General Mariano Vallejo to pioneer George C. Yount, Napas first land grant. A sprawling hacienda named Caymus Rancho was built on the site and opened its doors to all those who visited the valley. The current Rancho Caymus was built in 1984 by local artist and entrepreneur Mary Lee Tildon. Her design sought to recapture the spirit of the original hacienda. In 1991, the winemaking Komes family purchased the inn. The family has successfully enhanced the rustic elegance of the property, while keeping its history at the forefront of the design. Each room is named for an early Napa Valley adventurer, and youll find their stories, that go back to the early 1800s, in every room. Names such as Black Bart, Lillie Hitchcock Coit, and Robert Lewis Stevenson, as well as members of Russian nobility, saloonkeepers, stagecoach drivers and even a famous San Francisco courtesan intertwine with the warm, homelike surroundings of the inns decor. Napa Valley is unlike any other destination in country. As one of the premier travel destinations in the world, its breathtaking views picture-perfect rolling hills, and stunning sunrises and sunsets, will make you feel like youre walking in the clouds. Napa is not just a paradise for wine connoisseurs; its a lush wonder of nature to all who experience it. The hotel helps you plan a bicycle tour throughout the region, a hiking or kayaking adventure, a day of rejuvenation and relaxation at one of Napas world-class spas, a sporty day of golf, or learn to create culinary masterpieces with the chefs of Napa. Because the Napa Valley is such a stunning vision to all who visit, the local art galleries are abundant with exquisite pieces you will cherish for a lifetime. Let Rancho Caymus will be your portal to the Valley of the Vines.

Good location, Nice Rooms

The rooms are nicely furnished, but the place is a little too "charming". We went up for a romantic weekend and this was a good choice of hotel, it was fairly quiet and in between the wineries we wanted to visit (north end of the valley) and the restaurants and activities of Yountville and Napa. The TV only get about 5 channels but the bed was very comfy.

Super value in wine country

Despite the crowds associated with wine country, the inn was quiet and low key but still provided charm and wonderful location. Was a little frustrated with the lack of adequate TV channels but wasn't there to watch TV anyway. Although we rate this a super value, it is because we only paid $125 through Orbitz - typical price would have been over $200 and then it would have been overpriced and not a good value. $125 was good for the location.

Dining tip: Short walk from hotel

We ate next door at Rutherford Grill and it was super. Best advice is to take you own wine which you probably bought the same day anyway. They have no uncorkage fee so it allows you to sample what you bought and not pay the typical restaurant markup.
