Not All That It Appears To Be

The room was small and in need of remodeling. No coffee maker or refrigerator in room. Had to call to get toilet paper, 3 hours later still no toilet paper. No hot tub or swimming pool indoors. Since Redwood City is near San Francisco it is quite cool to have an outdoor pool only.No one was swimming in the pool the whole 5 days we were there. Also, there was a convention and the registration tables were located right near the elevators and there were large crowds of people standing all in front of the elevators and it was very dificult to get in and out of elevators and the noise was quite irritating. Also the location of the computer to print your boarding passes was surrounded by the registrtation tables and once again it ws very difficult to get throught the crowd to get to the computer. The glasses in the room were not clean they had greas, fingerprints and smudges looking like they were not clean at all. I was very dissapointed in the Sofitel Hotel and I would never stay at any Sofitel Hotels again. Also they advertise the beautiful view looking at the Bay, then give you a room facing a rooftop of the meeting room. They don't inform you that you don't get that view of the Bay unless you pay extra. Also, I would never recommend this Hotel Chain to anyone.

Questionable!

The hotel, while decorated nicely in the common areas, was a bit dated in the room. A hotel of this quality should not make you pay for WiFi services.

Disappointing stay

The hotel is beautiful, however seemed biased against 3rd party travelers. Room was very shabby, worn and not at all what I expected. The rate that I paid was the exact rate that they advertised on their site. They did not have my information at check in and made a point that I had used a third party. Overall just a less than average room.

More like the Best Western than the Sofitel

I travel on business a lot, and have stayed at the Sofitel. This was more like a overpriced Best Western in Silicon Valley. Will not stay here again. Hotel staff was courtesy , rooms and carpet needed a definite remodel and update! The restaurant staff were rude and the food was not that great. But there is no other eateries in the area so we have no choice but to eat in the SOFITEL.

Great outside, not so great inside

I was attending a wedding reception being held there and decided to book a room for convenience. It was the right decision, but the rooms are small, and the shower was awful. There was no water pressure and the bathroom in general was absolutely tiny.

Didn't Meet Expectations

Visiting San Francisco and San Jose area and the location was perfect. The room was described as luxury and would be better described as ordinary. Our second day there, we received notice that the pool would be unavailable from noon until 10 p.m. due to a private event. The private event took over the entire hotel, with loud music and obnoxious, drunk party goers taking over the hotel.

Nice Stay

Ended up having to stay here because of a flight cancelation. I was surprised when I reached this what seems like a resort in what seems like the middle of no where. Not somewhere you want to stay if you dont have a car.

old lady needing a lift

the appearance at first glance is wonderfull but the hotel is old and needs to update the rooms. TV not working properly (issues on going) telephone issues were supposed to be repaired-no phone in room. Housekeeping was deaf to my requests even after complaining to the general manager. Poor hot water flow also.

Sofitel is only So-So...

[...] The water pressure in the shower was NON-EXISTENT. Really quite awful. Standard extras (fridge, coffee-maker) are nowhere to be found here.

Mixed Bag of Good/Bad

Although the hotel was visually very nice, the service was a mixed bag. The front desk room staff were fantastic. Great workout room. However, the dining and bar service was very slow and understaffed. Likewise the coffee/pastry bar had customers backed up sometimes 6 or 7 deep waiting for a single person to operate both the expresso machine and handle purchases. Food value was very poor. I will not hesitate to stay there again if the price is right but will choose to eat elsewhere.
