Bugged out!!
Cockroaches in the bathroom!!
When we arrived we were very dissapointed to find the pool and hot tub were closed as the website said they were open. The suite was very nice and roomy especially for the price. However while trying to catch a centipede/cattepillar looking thing that fell out of the towel in the bathroom, I was shocked and disgusted to find a rather large cockroach hanging out under the sink! The staff blamed it on the guests that stayed before us! There was a nice breakfast, and they did refund the extra 3 nights we were supposed to stay with no problems.

Short drive from hotel
There's a great place called wacky - tacky to take the children to....In door play structure and bouncy slides. The kids loved it and it doesn't break the bank! Also loved the Skyhigh an indoor trampoline place.

Not clean in Rancho Cordova
The hotel was not as clean as we would like. The linens were worn and stained, with holes. The hallways with dirty with crumbs and dirt in the corners. The room smelled like smoke. The bed was comfortable and the meals were nice. The TV was old and flickered to the point where it was unwatchable. We asked for new linens and the replacement ones were just as bad as the originals.

suite
Average stay. I booked a room with two beds plus a sofa bed and was told upon arrival that they had no rooms with two beds[...] Basically take it or leave it. They did bring in a roll away. Not ideal.

Right Where We Needed It
We stayed at the Hawthorn Suites because my children live in the area and we were visiting on Christmas Day. The location was perfect for our purpose and the room was adequate. It's basically a larger room with a kitchenette. It seemed clean, but there were absolutely no utensils, plates, cups, etc. The staff was helpful and we were able to use what we needed from the dining area, but normally you find these types of things in the room when it's called a suite. The price being right was another positive point.

Don't ever recommend this hotel!!
We were only there for a night (thank goodness)and when we went to check in at 7 p.m. there was no one there and a sign said, "be back in about 5 minutes". Well we waited and waited and finally the desk clerk showed up from outside with a McDonald's bag in her hand and not even an apology!!! The room was horrible. It did have a desk and sofa but forget about using either one for computer work or reading as there was NO LIGHT OR LAMP!! You needed 3 towels to dry yourself if you were a normal sized human and, other than the fridge, I'd rate this as low as you can go!

Close to the mountains in Gold Country
The evening Desk Clerk was not real helpful. We had asked for a smoking room upon booking, this was verified by [...], and were told that there were none available when we checked in. It seemed that it was a real bother for her to have to attempt to accomodate us, so I dropped it. I will also drop any furhter trips to the Hampton Inns and won't recommend them to our traveling friends either

Nice Stop Over in Rancho Cordova
We would definately choose to stay at the Hawthorne Suite in Rancho Cordova. Walked into a large room with a small full kitchen, sitting area and bed. It was nicely decorated, comfortable and clean. We also enjoy a nice hot breakfast in the morning. Nice change since often when they state continental breakfast it is fruit and dry cereal. It was quite at treat, price was great and would recomend it to anyone traveling. The only reason it did not get 5 stars was the elevator had issues, the hallways had a damp musky smell and when shower curtain rod was replace there was no attempt to cover up the holes and missing paint from the previous rod.
