ok for the price
Walked into lobby and owner was on phone making himself a reservation and did not even acknowledge my presence. Could use a coffee maker in the room and a reading light behind the nice large chair. No shampoo or hair dryer in room which would have been a nice touch but the room was clean and comfortable. Location very good. Walking distance to Main Street Placerville.

It was ok
This hotel was ok. I would not recomend it to anyone nor would I stay there again. They had no shampoo. We got in late and had to run down to the market to get shampoo just as the store was closing. They only had two towels in the room. It was a non smoking room we stayed in but yet it still smelled like smoke. The man at the front desk is very very rude.

Older but comfortable
Only stayed one night. Had TV, microwave, fridge, which is all we needed for our very short stay in the room. Price was $88 which is reasonable. Chinese restaurant across the street was worth the location of the motel. Tony at the desk was very nice.

Not good
This motel is not pet friendly [...]. I was given a very sm room. Not the queen bed I was supposed to get. The bathroom was so sm you could not close the door & sit in the toilet at the same time. There was hair in the tube.

Good location
Walking distance to downtown Placerville which is a charming town. The motel is ok; nice staff. Beds are too hard for my taste and no coffee in the room. There's a Starbucks a block away though. All in all, for the price, decent place to sleep and shower.

Gold Country Inn in Placer
After checking in to our room we had to request towels, wash cloths, bath mat and Blow Dryer... and after further examination found the accommadations to be Filthy! We complained and the manager came to the room he was combative and intimidating to say the least. We left to allow him to dust, remove the cobwebs from over the beds and doorways, and vacuum. The edges of the carpet were caked with dust and grime. We explained that two of us had special needs, one with a permanent trachiotomy and the other with severe asthma. Before he cleaned and only 20 min or so after we were in the room we explained this to him and asked for a refund or not be charged and he refused. On our arrival after he had vacuumed it was still too dirty to stay in. The drapes were still caked with dust and cobwebs and the headboard filthy. We had to find lodging elsewhere.

A great bargain
Gold Country Inn is a motel, one you can still on the backroads and small towns of the US. This is well-run with a small but helpful staff, clean and all the necessities including cable TV and WiFi. The bed was comfortable. There was a small frig and microwave, a well-functioning heater and all were quiet. We had a great and quiet stay there.

Dining tip:
Short drive from hotel
Historic Main St. in Placerville is a wonderful stroll and has several great restaurants in historic sites--the Cozmic Cafe, Heyday Cafe and Cascadas. A great little community.
