Fun in Pismo

This hotel was very nice and my daughter and I loved our view from our room overlooking the mountains and ocean. The only drawback we encountered was that it is not walking distance to Pismo Pier but, other than that, is was a very pleasant stay.

We went to San Luis Opisbo which was only 10 minutes away and they had very good dining there and quaint little shops. We also visited Hearst Castle, which was awesome, and that was about 45 minutes away from hotel.

spring break

Our room was nice. Great view. The bed was lumpy and the air conditioner was not working. We weren't able to change rooms because they were completely booked and they would not refund any money because we booked through or bits. They gave us a coupon for our next stay instead. The restaurant's hostess said we needed a reservation (even though they were half full, and we were happy to go) but the manager came by and offered us a table then lectured us after the meal.

Too loud

The hotel was nice but for the price I would have expected the room to be quiet. You could hear everything.

Great Getaway

Perfect for an overnight getaway. We chose this primarily because of their willingness to accommodate our dog. The "pet friendly" rooms open onto a terrace with a grass area that is convenient for pets. They provided a pet bed, biscuits, food/water bowls and a frisbee for the dog. I guess they have to justify the $55 surcharge somehow. The location on the bluffs is excellent and provided a dramatic sunset view. The rooms were modern, clean and comfortable. The sofa bed for the kids was very comfortable compared to the typical hide-a-bed. The bathroom was a typical, small, tub/shower combo and was rather lacking in my opinion. Hence, four stars instead of five. Also, I noticed later, that a better room near ours, in the same price category, sat vacant all night. Not sure why this wasn't offered to us upon check-in.

Birthday Weekend Adventure

We drove out from southern California for a weekend retreat. We found the Cliffs to be clean, comfortable and in a good location for our active weekend. The staff was friendly and attentive and our room was always cleaned up before our return from our day away. While we were at the Cliffs we did a wine tasting tour in the Edna Valley, an ocean kayaking trip in the shell beach cliff area and a standup paddle board trip in Avilla Beach. We had an all around great weekend.

Great location but needs improvements

We came for a wedding. The hotel is in a great location, right on the water. However, it is dated and needs to be kept up. The staff needs training! They were unable to answer even the most basic questions (e.g. how do you get into town?).

Forget Pismo Beach and head to Avila Beach! Avila was rebuilt about 10 years ago and is a cute little beach town with fun shops and wine tasting rooms (not to mention a gorgeous beach).

So-so renovation and service

Though remodeled, the resort felt a bit old, and staff was cheerful but not very helpful, particularly the front desk folks who didn't seem to know anything about the area when asked. The bluff location was scenic but with no usable beachfront, and its location some distance away from the small towns in the area made it even less appealing. I was there for a wedding, so it sufficed for that.

A Wedding To Photograph

The wedding that we photographed was at this hotel. The wedding was stunning & the wedding coordinator was absolutely incredible!!! The stay, however, a bit different. There just wasn't anything extra special about the stay & about the experience. For the amount paid, my expectations were a bit higher. My only complaint was the noise. It was hard to sleep at night b/c you could hear just about everything. Kids crying, t/v's, and in the morning, maid service. It was really loud.
