Way overpriced for what you get
Located about a mile away from the bustling center of town, the Shilo Inn is a budget hotel that charges a nightly rate akin to that of a resort or swanky boutique hotel. The rooms are a good size, albeit somewhat outdated, and they were fairly clean. The first thing we noticed was that there was only 1 bath towel and 1 washcloth for each of us, with no handtowels. We immediately called down to the front desk to ask for more towels and were informed that we could each have 1 more towel. We also noticed that each bed had two very low quality pillows (the soft, squishy kind where you lay your head down and it practically touches the mattress), so we also asked for more pillows. Again we were informed that we could have 1 more pillow each. It made us feel like they either did not have enough to go around (and the hotel was by no means close to being full) or they thought we were going to make off with their pillows and towels. Either way, it was not a good start to what was supposed to be a nice, relaxing vacation. The next morning, we went down and enjoyed some of their complimentary continental breakfast. It is in the lobby, in the corner, and could certainly be spread out a bit more as I don't particularly care for people I don't know reaching over my food. They had toast, bagels, muffins, hard boiled eggs, assorted cereals and one kind of milk (2%, I believe), Activia yogurt, fruit cups, butter, cream cheese and assorted jellies, coffee, hot water, decaf, and a machine that did mochas, lattes or french vanilla coffee. On a side table were apples, bananas and oranges. Everything was fresh, so that was good. After we ate and showered, we walked down to the center of town. It's a long walk, but okay if it's not too hot. We did see taxis driving along so we knew we could hail a taxi if necessary and it probably would not have cost too much to make it back to the hotel. We returned to the hotel a few hours later and went to the pool. They have an adult pool and a children's pool, which is very nice. After we went to the lobby to pick up 1 pool towel each (they charge you $10 per towel if you don't return them to the lobby because you check them out under your room number), we hit the adult pool. That was the best part of our trip. The pool area was clean, the temperature of the pool was perfect, and there was plenty of seating, both in the sun and shade.

Business trip
Not too bad for three days although I did end up getting sick and leaving early. Luckily I had a roomate who did stay the three days so it wasn't a waste of room stay. The room was roomy and had a patio which was facing the adult pool and hot tub. Nice big pool which was heated. The room comfort - okay but could be better with the bed and could use more pillows. Room amenities - had everything needed so that was good. Location was good - in a quieter area which I di enjoy that. Staff were friendly. The breakfast was okay for a continental - could use more spaceor a least a larger indoor area to sit.

Fantastic getaway for adults
Our experience was great. Had one problem with shower, it was fixed within 24 hours of reporting it. Loved the separation of pools for kids and adults. Staff was friendly and helpful. Cleaning staff understanding of our schedule. Easy access to activities. Had shuttle to downtown. Walking distance to several restarants and bars.

Long needed vacation
Great grounds, birds singing, two pools and hot tubs was marvelous. Room spacious with furniture that made it feel homie!! It was amazing to see snow on the mountains with surrounding palm trees! The only cliche was not being able to communicate with maid to bring a wash rag or towel as were missing and front desk ran out of yogart the last day. I would go back again!!

Hotel with a good location!
The room at Shilo Inn was a nice size. The beds were very comfortable. Our view was a wall, so that wasn't too good, but we weren't in the room much. The hotel is a fun walking distance from downtown Palm Springs. The main criticism is the wall outlets were not in good working order, so it was hard to plug anything in.

Staff was very friendly. However, we did not have hand towels or bath mat on two of our nights. Also, the soap they provided was very skimpy.

Shilo Inn--good price but there's a reason
We were not expecting a 5-star experience at this very fair price, but we were disappointed at the inconsistent maid service and the almost painful continental breakfast--crowded, poorly stocked, and very uncomfortable seating choices. I think, with some attention, the management could make both better.

Surprisingly, a pleasant stay
There was adequate amount of free parking & the continental breakfast was ok, no variation, but good coffee. I liked the fact that there was an adult pool & another one for the families. It was quiet & restful, dispite being located on the main route of Palm Springs, even over the New Years weekend! The only negative aspect was the stairs to the second floor to haul up two heavy suitcases, no elevator. When I visit this area again, I'll probably choose Shilo Inn, as I felt safe & comfortable in this motel.

Short walk from hotel
When you get tired of the continental breakfast, eat @ Ricks' restaurant, just next to the Shilo Inn or Billy Reeds' restaurant, just across the street.
