OK for the money
Wish I had been there for nicer weather. Otherwise, room was clean although a little noisy (could hear people upstairs). Everything worked. Firm bed. Breakfast was OK. In room safe, microwave and refrigerator. Staff was very nice. If you are looking for low cost, no frills lodging, it definitely fits the bill.

Golf Enthusiasts
Golf Getaway
My husband and I always stay at this hotel when we come to Palm Springs for golf. The views out the balconies on every room are incredible. Every room overlooks the pool, hot tub, and barcecue/lounging area. It is a nice quiet hotel...at least while we have stayed there. Good location for scenic walks. We are gone most of the day golfing, so we don't need all the extra amenities with some hotels. Finally, the only complaint I have is that the showers are not great - water pressure, sudden dramatic temperature surges hot/cold, etc...

Not worth the money
I booked a room with a single king bed and got a two double beds. They didn't have anything with a king bed. The beds were very uncomfortable, the ceiling above us must have been thin, we heard the people upstairs (insomniacs) up all night walking back and forth and picking up/dropping stuff. The curtains were moth-eaten. Yuck! The water temperature changed every few minutes during shower from very hot to very cold. This was a very low-rate motel that does not deserve the "Inn" category. Never staying there again. I wouldn't even recommend it to anyone.

Good base for exploring
We have stayed there several times, located on the outskirts of downtown Palm Springs convenient to everything in Palm Springs and right on highway 111 for easy access to the rest of the valley. Older motel so the rooms are somewhat worn and small but clean. Staff cooperative and helpful. No pets so allergies are not a problem. .

Elmer's restaurant close by and consistently good, after your second visit the staff makes you feel like a regular.

Shower was terrible - water temp changed every 10 seconds - freezing then sorching hot. No smoking allowed but cigarette butts litter every stairwell and even the planter boxes. Breakfast is the same everyday very mundane, overripe bananas, only white bread, only cranberry juice, cream cheese but no bagels.

FIVE TIMES
This was my fifth time at the Royal Sun. What I love about the place is the view of the mountains. The pool is properly heated, and the hot tub was hot! Breakfast is ok, a bit crowded. There are several fine restaurants nearby, and with happy hour pricing. Staff is pleasant, and we always meet nice people by the pool.The price is great, if you book early.

We would certainly stay at this
We would certainly stay at this hotel again. We had a beautiful view of the mountains and the room was clean. The "continental" breakfast was varied and would meet the needs of most. The staff was helpful and friendly. We were also pleased that the tour bus picked us up at the hotel.
