Wonderful, warm get away!

Riviera Palm Springs was a delight. A warm, relaxing place by a pool and adventures out if we chose was exactly what we wanted. The weather cooperated and the Classic Car show in town and Thursday night Food Festival were nice perks. The Riviera staff was there if needed and left us to rest when we wanted. The metro system is easy to use and convenient not to have to worry about parking. We will certainly choose to visit again.

travel back in time

We booked this in part to see what the allure was in Palm Springs in the 50's and 60's, knowing that the more tony places are now farther south in Palm Desert. Turns out that this place is 1-2 miles north of the historical downtown, but that's OK, since there is nothing much to see in downtown anyway. The hotel has very dated and boxy architecture with claustrophobic dark hallways which I thought was depressing. Glass doors and handles were dirty and banged up, although the gardens were nice and our room was spacious and clean. The TV was barely functional because the remote barely worked. ?dying batteries? Prices were high, and they charge $10 for you to park your car, $5 for bottles water (in the desert). Bar service at the pool wraps up around 5:00 although there were plenty of people still lounging. Morning coffee was free, but that was little consolation because they ran out. This may have been a luxury hotel in its day but now is little more than an overpriced motel.

Wedding weekend

We had a nice time at the riviera. The place is huge!!! Can be hard to navigate. Self parking is $8, which seems kind of weird. Overall, a nice place, but a little pricey.

Great PS stay

We stayed here for only 1 night, but even with such a short stay, had a great time. The hotel is 'cool' - it has a sixties vibe, and has been refurbished in keeping with that. The staff were friendly, the pool areas lovely, the meals delicious, and our room lovely. NB: we initially had a king-bed room facing a car park, and elected to pay an extra $30 to have a ground floor poolside room - definitely worth doing.

Money-saving tip: In Hotel

Bring your own wine/water/juice. The mini bar fridge is empty (YAY!) so you can stock it with your own drinks. Better than paying $5 for a bottle of Evian.

Fantastic

The Riviera is always great. Got a great deal on the room. Room was perfect. Free upgrade. Bathtub was AWESOME. Dinner at the restaurant was delicious. The only thing that lacked at all was the apple pie dessert. It was just so so. Everything else was perfect.

Riviera Palm Springs

We arrived on a Thursday and the place was pretty empty due to this being a slow season, we like that though, nice to have a place to hang out at the pool without a ton of people crowding around. The Good: - Nice room (thanks for the upgrade to the small suite). - Nice pool areas. - Nice grounds. - Mid Century Modern vibe is awesome The Bad: - parking can be challenging when it gets busy - music at the pool stops at random, unpredictable times (thurs at 9:00, Fri at 6:00, Sun at 5:00)??? - needed a wrist band to get into the pool on Saturday - no one told us about this when we checked in and we were also told that we could not bring our plastic cups into the pool either - which was different from thurs & fri - building doors are not secure, basically anyone who wants can walk-in off the street and enter any of the buildings without a key Overall: Nice hotel but, they should provide each guest with wristbands and tell you about policies when checking in. Don't make it hard for the guests, make it easy for us by dropping off a wristband in our room and letting us know that Saturdays are different than other days versus us showing up and being met by security and turned away from the pool area . . . pretty bad process and the other pool was closed for an event so, we just went back to our room and hung out on the balcony. Wifi worked well from our room in building 7. Hard choice on Recommend or Not recommend.

Great Hotel

This hotel is beautiful. Our stay for one night was fine. The only complaint I would have is not the hotels fault but still might sway me to stay elsewhere. There were tons of drunk people shouting in the halls at all hours of the night. Being woken up at 1,2,3,4,5, because of rowdy drunk girls isn't my idea of a good nights rest. I chose this hotel specifically because I thought it would be adult enough to not have that type of crowd. Oh well, the room was nice. The pool was lovely. Staff was young and friendly enough.

Riviera Palm Springs

I gave this hotel high remarks because of the way they treated us when we faced a bit of a problem with the room. The first room smelled like someone was smoking there, mind you this hotel is a mini Vegas hotel - lots of party people. They not only moved us to a different room but they also upgraded us to a Suite - That's how you do it!!!
