Chic, glamorous hotel evokes the feeling of 1960s Palm Springs

Riviera Palm Springs is a luxurious center of ultra-chic cool. The iconic resort underwent an extensive, $70 million renovation that resulted in sumptuous rooms, outdoor fire pits, tented pool, gardens and Thai-inspired spa. The decor is a blend of rich colors and retro furniture, evoking the feeling of 1960s Palm Springs while still offering modern amenities. Riviera Palm Springs combines the best of the past and present, in a property suffused with glamour.

  • Outdoor fire pits, gardens and tented pool area
  • Thai-inspired spa
  • 1960s era design elements throughout hotel

At Riviera Palm Springs, guests feel like members of Frank Sinatra's Rat Pack. Rooms feature decor and furnishings inspired by the coolness of the 1960s. Funky, high-backed chairs and padded headboards evoke the best of that era, while luxuriant comforters and flat-screen TVs make rooms feel ultra-modern.

Riviera Palm Springs offers a range of room options. The Riviera King guestrooms offer patios or balconies, iPod/DVD/computer stations and luxury bedding. Suites may include separate sitting areas, workstation desks, views of the pool and separate dining area. The two-bedroom Presidential Suite includes a personal patio with fire pit, wet bar and private Jacuzzi.

Distinctive cuisine and cocktails are served at Circa 59 Restaurant, offering eco-friendly fish, premium cuts of meat and locally-grown produce.

In the evening, the illuminated pool area of Riviera Palm Springs transforms into a cocktail party. Servers in bikinis deliver creatively mixed cocktails as guests lounge on oversized futons. A handwoven, thatched hut above the pool deck gives guests the feeling of 1960s Palm Springs.

Great pool action

This is a great hotel! It's the atmosphere and the vibe are what really make it. I don't know how they create such an amazing place to be, but it happens. The rooms are sub par and not everything works in them, but you don't want to be in the rooms anyway. The resort is set up so cool and makes you feel like you are in your own little backyard party. Recommended for couples or groups of friends. Love it and can't wait to go back.

Palm Springs Riviera

My recent trip to the Riviera Palm Springs was fantastic! I only wish I could have stayed longer. The one thing I was most impressed with was Circa 59. The food was outstanding, and the service was great too! I will be returning to RPS very soon!

Fun getaway!

Cool, modern hotel. Located just out of the main drag of Palm Springs. If you want to be centrally located, check out the Hyatt. Not that the hotel is that far from all the shops and other restaurants. The rooms are fun and clean. Mostly younger crowd. Lots of bachlorette parties. We stayed Friday and Saturday nights and the hallways got a little rowdy with the drunks but other than that everything was fine. The breakfast "buffet" by the pool was kind of a joke. We would have skipped it had we realized it was just scrambled eggs, bacon, potatoes, and fruit. The following morning we ordered the breakfast burrito and THAT was good. So were the hamburgers. Take my advice: Skip the breakfast buffet. We would definitely go back. But maybe if we scored another great deal [...].

Lacking in accomodations

I called the day before checking in to ask if we could check in between 2:00-3:00 rather than the 4:00 check in time. I was told that shouldn't be a problem for a Sunday check in. We arrived at 3:15 and the room was not ready but the lady who checked us in was very nice and gave us a pool key so we could hang out there while we waited. She said it should only be 15-30 more minutes and that they would call us when it was ready. While we were checking in with her, two really loud obnoxious drunk guys who were obviously coming from the pool came in to talk to someone at the front desk and it was rather a strange experience for this nice hotel but everyone who worked there just acted as if this was normal. When we got to the pool it was an obvious party scene. Those in the pool were highly intoxicated including the two men we saw in the lobby and they was several people who were getting highly intimate throughout the pool. About 10 minutes to check in we had not been called yet so we went to the front desk to ask about our room. We were told that our room still wasn't ready and that it would be another 15-30 minutes putting us later than the 4:00 check in. We told the guy at the counter that we had food we really needed to get into a refrigerator and if there was anything he could do to get us into a room. He went to the back to talk to a manager and was gone for about 5 minutes but came back with a room ready and a key. Phew! We asked if they had a microwave we could have sent up to the room and we were told they did not have microwaves available. There were also none available in the lobby. If you need these accomodations, this is very frustrating. We went to move my car and my battery had died so we called the front desk to see if they could send someone over with jumper cables. We were told they did not have any. Fortunately there was a maintenance man driving by in a golf cart who took us and our bags closer to our room. When we got to the room we called again and voiced our frustration that a resort hotel with valet service (which cost $15.00 extra so we didn't use the valet) did not have access to jumper cables. With that, they sent someone right over with cables! The next day we checked into the Spa Resort & Casino - what a difference! When we pulled up to the valet we were told there is no extra charge for valet service - it is included in the cost of the stay- and that they had jumper cables and not to worry about it - we were assured it was no problem. Sure enough, it wasn't, when we checked out the next day, they used their cables and got my car started for me. It was so much easier at this hotel. At the Riviera there was not only an additional charge to use the valet but also an additional $25.00 resort fee. With the Spa Resort & Casino it was all included and the accomodations were much better - they had microwaves available to rent if we needed but also had two available for use in the coffee shop. They also had utensils for us if we needed them and we didn't have to ask for anything - it was just all included. It was a much more enjoyable stay. If you are looking for a fun getaway with the girls for the party scene, go to the Riviera but if you want a place that accomodates your unforseen needs go to the Spa Resort & Casino. The latter is much better priced and you get more for your money.

Money-saving tip: Long walk from hotel

The Riviera is a bit away from the shopping area and the casino and you would have to drive. If you want things in walking distance don't stay there. Also, if you go to the casino you can get their points card inside the casino - it is free - and it gives you discounts at the restaurant inside the Riviera as well as many other shopping and food places in the area.

Very nice hotel - Unique

The hotel is convenienty located close to downtown, but far enough away to feel 'private'. Easy access to EVERYTHING, but not really walking distance to downtown in the heat. The hotel is an old property which has been meticulously remodeled. The 'deep end' pool is billed as the one of the two where you can hang out without kids, but I didn't notice a difference in that aspect. It is a smaller pool, without cocktail service during the week (we were there at the beginning of the off-season, which is the summer months). We did have to change rooms after the first night because building 5 was 'having water issues', but they put us up in a very nice large suite with larger shower, the addition of a great soaking tub and large sitting area. (alas, no pool view . . . but the courtyards are very pretty, too) A little loud on weekend nights (lots of bachelor and bachelorette parties!), and the hotel restaurant is a little spendy, but the bartender was a sweetheart and shared recipes with us. Overall, a great stay. The housekeeping staff was GREAT!

While you're here, go to the Premium Outlets in Cabazon. Lots of fun shopping! Also, Thursday evenings the downtown street faire is fun. And of course, visit Las Casuelas Pallazo for great mexican food (Yummy breakfast!) and live music every night!

Nice, spacious room at good price.

Hotel staff was friendly. Free parking! Room was spacious and clean. We didn't use many of the hotel services because we were attending an event at another hotel... at first, we were disappointed we couldn't stay at the main hotel for the event because it was sold out, but in the end, we got a better deal... the main event hotel seemed inferior and more expensive. Plus, it was nice to retreat to our hotel in the evening. We flew into LAX and rented a car... flying directly into Palm Springs would have been more convenient, but it was just too expensive.

Fun times at this trendy hotel!

Great hotel and fun getaway for people looking for a mini-Vegas style pool party scene. Friends recommended this hotel to me because they said it was more for a younger crowd (I'm in my early 30s) and had a fun pool party atmosphere, and it was all that! Even though I read some mixed reviews on the hotel, overall, I had a great experience. We went the weekend after Memorial Day. I booked a week in advance and got a 15% discount for a Junior Mediterranean Suite. Not a bad deal if you split with friends. The hotel was booked for the weekend, a good sign of its popularity, so make reservations way in advance! When I called the hotel to get room-type recommendations, the lady recommended the cheaper suite (so I know I got her honest opinion). As soon as we got to the hotel, you could see the ritzy glowing orange lobby lights from afar, we were greeted by friendly staff. Surprisingly, we were able to check in early at 3pm (check in is usually 4pm) and if you self park, parking is free with the stay. They give you up to four wristbands for the main pool area since it gets crowded on Saturdays. Like everyone thinks, the wristbands are annoying (the ink rubs off) and there was a guard who checks at the front from the lobby entrance. I don't think you need wristbands especially if you are a hotel guest and this is considered to be a luxury hotel. The pool had a playful design; crowded, but that was to be expected. They played good top 40 music, overall good looking crowd for people watching (looked mostly like people in their 30s), and lots of bachelor/bachelorette party groups. Nothing outrageously wild happened at the pool, but it had a good vibe all around. Since it was later in the afternoon, we were able to get towels and tables near the bar. Drinks averaged $11-12 each, are not that strong and prepare to wait and be disappointed, the service at the Bikini Bar was reeeeeally slow. They didn't seem to be that sincerely apologetic when we had waited at least 20 minutes for each drink. Better to order a double or triple up front! The music stops playing at 5pm so I missed out on the earlier afternoon party scene. The junior suites are very spacious - a king, queen sofa, balcony, two sinks, tub and shower. The decor everywhere is swanky and a bit cheesy; overdone with fun patterns, jewels and glitz, but adds to the hip character of the hotel. Room service was friendly and prompt with extra towels. Access to the hotel room buildings is too easy, there should be room key access to get inside (other than the pool gate); I felt it could have had more security. The hotel is about a mile and a half from the main bars/restaurants off Palm Canyon Drive, so quick drive if you cab or drive it there. We came back to the hotel at 11pm and there was still a good party scene going on at the Sidebar lounge with the simliar party crowd from the pool and the DJ also played top 40 music. I had a blast! It's a smaller bar, but there are also seats/tables outside. The fire pits around the pool add to a nice evening atmosphere if you just want to chill with your friends. I was able to get a complimentary late check out at 1pm the next day (normal checkout is at 12pm) so got to hit the pool early Sunday before we left. The crowd was more subdued and the music is more loungy, but perfect way to end the weekend. I will definitely want to stay in this hotel again (if I can get a good price) and recommend to younger people looking for a hip place to stay. I'll also have to come back to check out the spa facilities and Circa 59. Thanks for a great stay!
