Mixed experience at Hotel Zoso
Mom Sally Nov 15, 2009
The good: The room was nice (we had a delux room). The decor of the rooms and the lobby area is very cool. The front desk, ... valet and porter staff were very friendly and helpful. The location is great - right in the middle of downtown Palm Springs to easy walking to distance to everything. The bad: the pool area is in desperate need of a facelift. The pool needs to be resurfaced and the tiles around the waterline look pretty grubby. Many of the sun loungers were frayed. The pool is in the middle of the hotel and the hotel walls you are therefore looking at are a really dingy brown color. It would be much better if they were white or cream. The other thing which wasn't great was the restaurant. It looks nice - but the service was poor, food slow (despite not being busy) and not good when it arrived either. Another point of irritation was the walk to our room. To get to the main hallway which led to our room we had to walk down a kind of side hallway which was so awful! Awful bubbled up carpet and grubby walls - clearly the hotel has been refubished in the last year or so, but for some reason they didn't do this access walkway. Can't understand that at all! All in all we had a great trip to Palm Springs and the room was nice and there are some cool things about the Zoso but they really need to sort out the pool, restaurant and hallway.

A lovely hotel with A+ hospitality
Mr. Man Nov 1, 2009
You will be surprised at how modern this hotel is: hip common areas, the firebowl at the pool, killer Sunday morning brunch, ... slate bathrooms, showerheads as big as sunflowers, up-scale soaps, comfy beds and prompt room service. The food at the Eatz restaurant is also served at the bar, so that's what we enjoyed. The pool and jacuzzi were great - clean and at the expected temperatures. There were a couple of nuisances that irked us and kept me from rating this with five stars. At check-in, our bed preference was wrong so we were given a different room. Unfortunately it had NO view of the surrounding mountains (but of the roof) and instead of a plasma TV, there was a junky old tube one. And the hotel was 80% empty so why was that room still on the list? The second issue occurred while catching rays and reading books at 9:30am near the pool, with 5-6 other couples, all enjoying the morning peace of the desert. At 10am the bartender opened the poolside bar and started blaring some dumb rock station from his radio. I asked him to give us another 30 minutes of peace and quiet - since EVERYONE out here was reading - but that was a big no-can-do. Everyone ended up leaving, which I'm sure helped his drink sales. But really those were minor annoyances. Every time we left or returned to the hotel, someone at the door greeted us or rushed ahead to open it if our hands were full. Seriously, where do you find this sort of immensely polite customer service outside of Tokyo? Well go enjoy it at the Zoso!

Checked in on a Saturday. Hotel was clean, staff was friendly. They upgraded our room to a larger one without charge. ... The bar was nice, happy hour started at 4pm and the bar food was good. The next morning we had room service of breakfast- Raspberry honey pancakes and oatmeal brulee. Yum. Would recommend.

Lovely Hotel in the center of Palm Springs and near any and all great restaurants. The primary staff of the hotel were ... complete professionals and could not have been more courteous. Our only problem was getting our room cleaned. One day NO one showed up to clean the room; while on the other we payed the housekeepper to clean the room while we were out for the day; but returned with it uncleaned! Only after speaking to the management did we get our room cleaned. Unfortunately all the great things at a hotel can be ruined by having bad experiences with your room. We still recommend you give Hotel Zoso a try for it's truly situated in a great location and the rooms are nice.

Hotel Zoso can be a great way to relax for the weekend. Park the car for the weekend and don't get in it again until you ... leave. Good restaurant at the hotel and pool, within walking distance to other great restaurants and the Spa Casino. The pool plays a commerical radio station with lame music interrupted by commercials. Come on, pop for satelite radio at least. And play some chill music.

GREAT LOCATION TO DOWNTOWN
OZIKBOY Sep 4, 2009
VERY VERY GOOD SERVICE --- I DID ARRIVE AND THEY HAD NO RECORD OF MY ORBITZ RESERVATION-- BUT THEY HONORED IT-- THE ONLY ... THING I DID NOT CARE FOR WAS THE $20.00 PER DAY FOR PARKING ALTHOUGH THEY DID OFFER THE OPTION OF SELF PARKING ON THE STREET. THE LOCATION ALLOWS YOU TO WALK ONE BLOCK TO THE MAIN DOWNTOWN AREA WITHOUT GETTING INTO A CAR... ALLOWS YOU TO HAVE A "FEW COCKTAILS" WITHOUT RISKING A DUI. I GOT A GREAT RATE THOUGH ORBITZ SINCE I COUPLED IT WITH THE FLIGHT. I THINK BEING OFF SEASON HELPED GET THAT OFFER. ON SEASON THE RATE PROBABLY A LOT HIGHER. IF YOU NEED TO DO SOME PAPER WORK-- THE LIGHTING WAS NOT GREAT IN THE ROOM BUT THE LOW LIGHT LEVEL IS AN ADVANTAGE IF YOU ARE OVER 50 AND TRYING TO "ROMANCE" SOMEONE.
