Updated for the 21st century with modern amenities like free Wi-Fi, Caliente Tropics Resort retains the zesty feel of a Tiki lounge, while extending luxury and convenience to guests. The hotel features one of the largest pools in the area, surrounded by cabanas and pool deck.

Excellent value on a budget.

I stay here (at my own expense) for work travel mainly because it's cheap. But for Motel-6 prices you get much bigger and better furnished rooms with amenities typical of higher priced hotels (pool, hot tub, coffee, fridge, workout room, etc). The slightly tattered-around-the-edges Tiki Theme feels more like character than cheapness. The crowd at the pool can be eclectic, but I've never experienced any kind of late-night rowdiness or misbehavior. My wife actually likes to stay here when we turn my PSP work trips into family get-aways and she's usually the five-star type.

Dining tip: Short walk from hotel

Around the corner on Palm Canyon (towards downtown) on the right is a great low-budget Mexican joint. It's sit-down, not a taco stand.

Mid-Century "Motel-ish"; Fair Value, Location OK!

I've stayed here countless times in the past and a few years back they wen through a renovation. Unfortunately, no "freebies" although they have plenty of room adjacent to the lobby to offer guests (at the very least) a "continental breakfast". No restaurant! Bathroom sink provided no hot water - shower did. There were a total of 5-burned out light bulbs in my room (2-bedside, 3-vanity area) - you would think the houseakeepers would check this during cleaning. The bed was not terribly comfortable but, keep in mind, this is a lower-cost alternative to the usual "pricey" hotels in Palm Springs. They have a "nominal" resort fee and I normally only book with NO "resort fee" properties. Overall, a fair value - just so they don't increase the room rates! The former restaurant/bar on property is history!

brilliant stay

we had booked three nights here and arrived on the first night after a long drive from flagstaff. check-in staff were quick and efficient and very friendly. room was opposite the gate to the beautiful pool area and was as described. in fact we were so taken with the place that we revised the rest of our trip, cancelled the following 3 nights planned for san diego and booked another 3 nights at the caliente tropics. Had a wonderful time, very convenient for downtown, lots to see and do in the locality. Asked for a late check out which was no problem. would recommend it to anyone going to palm springs but it did get a bit lively around the pool on friday and saturday - however this was only a minor downside compared to an otherwise excallent stay, thanks guys!

Tiki Tacky Fun

We checked in at this cute "motor lodge". The lobby was cute and updated and the staff was friendly. Our room was nice but could have used a little updating. The pool area was crowded with 20 something drunk people on the first night we were there but it was a holiday weekend so we mustered through it with a few laughs and eye rolling. It is a pet friendly hotel, which I enjoyed because I love dogs, but if you don't then maybe steer clear. All in all it was a great time at a great place.
