HighlightsChic hotel offers funky decor and spa services in Palm Springs
Ace Hotel and Swim Club is built on the foundation of a 1965 Howard Johnson hotel and the property has been revamped to maintain the 1960s era charm. Funky, edgy decor creates a distinctive look, and rooms combine well-worn leather couches with luxurious bedding, expertly melding gritty, 60s-type furnishings with modern amenities. Just south of downtown Palm Springs and close to the mountains, Ace Hotel and Swim Club gives a nod toward the coolness of the past, in a contemporary setting.
Highlights
  • Funky, 1960s-inspired decor

Rooms

Ace Hotel and Swim Club rooms boast eye-catching, distinctive details. Screens around the beds feature 1960s-era photos tacked up with binder clips. Chairs seem rescued from old schoolhouses or offices. Canvas drapes are pinned back to reveal patio spaces, giving rooms the feel of a safari tent. The effect is a charming, retro atmosphere that feels comfortable and welcoming. Suites offer separate living areas and some feature vinyl record players in the room.

Features

Ace Hotel and Swim Club features an old, restored diner called King's Highway that offers traditional American favorites. Chefs use local, seasonal and organic ingredients whenever possible and the meats are sustainably raised.

Guests can also borrow one of the hotel's Weber grills for a room's private patio or terrace. The hotel offers communal outdoor hearths if guests want to mingle and make new friends while preparing their outdoor feasts.

The Feel Good Spa at Ace Hotel and Swim Club provides simple, practical treatments geared toward boosting health and relaxation while treating the senses to a luxurious experience. The spa focuses on using natural, organic ingredients and offers purifying clay masks, body scrubs, hot stone massage, deep tissue massage, cooling skin treatments and facials. The extensive pool area offers another opportunity to relax and recharge.

Dining

King's Highway Restaurant
We took the old Denny's restaurant on the property and unearthed a cool terrazzo floor, sandblasted the flagstone walls and recovered the booths in saddle leather. The food redefines roadside diner fare as part of an American peasant food tradition-rustic, direct, resourceful, sensuous, and social. The focus will be on fresh, organic, and local ingredients that expand the stereotypical view of Palm Springs to create a regional cuisine grounded in a sense of place. We understand that food is first and foremost a series of relationships not only in the eating but in the preparing and the sourcing. We believe that cooking should always be inspired but never pretentious and that food should be accessible but not ordinary. In feeling, we imagine this experience like the most amazing backyard barbeque you've ever been to.

Just ok

A little loud at times, but it's to be expected. Beds are low to the floor so sometimes they are hard to get out of. It's a little out of the way, but I had a car to get where I needed to go.

Awesome Trendy Modern Hotel

What a blast my 15 year old daughter and I had by checking into the Ace for a week. We stayed Sun-thurs to miss the weekend crowd. We enjoyed the restaurant and spa and tons of pool time. Ps leave your shampoo at home your shower comes with salon grade products. The only thing I would change is the courtyard connected to my room was a bit dingy looking..ie old gum on concrete ect. All in all I highly recommend the ACE.

Go to the French restaurant in town! It's pricey but 100% worth it.

Good price but not my fave

Got a great deal online. The hotel is fine but it's grungy in a few ways. I did over hear some other guests that were in the same conference as me saying their room had bed bugs which really freaked me out, but I was too afraid to check mine. They really push to clean your room. They try multiple times a day which I'm not used to. The hotel can be a little loud too and it bugs me that the window coverings don't quite close all the way so people can see in to your room. The mini bar also doesn't post prices so who knows how much they are charging for stuff.

Exactly what I expected.

It's a party hotel. Too expensive for my taste especially since the pool area wasn't very nice. But if you are looking for a young hipster loud party vibe and you've got money to burn then this is your place.

Great girls' weekend!

My girlfriend and I booked a room at The Ace for a chill and fun weekend away from our husbands. We had a wonderful time! We were not looking for a party atmosphere but wanted somewhere with some nightlife and the Ace fit the bill. The hotel is beautifully sited next to the mountains and has amazing views from the pool and rest of the grounds. Our room was located away from the pool so it was fairly quiet at night. The room itself was well designed and clean, with a comfortable bed and all the typical amenities (hair dryer, toiletries, robes, etc.). The grounds are impeccable and the pool scene is fun and relaxing at the same time. The food at the restaurant is great! We also enjoyed a great band in the bar Friday night and free Saturday morning yoga. Highly recommended!

Labor Day weekend

The ace just didn't do it for me. The lobby smelled funky (like sulfur) the room was cool but just not inviting. I appreciate the aesthetic of the ACE but I also felt like I was back in my college apt in Santa Cruz (vintage furniture, funky lights, etc) Overall, I felt my fireplace patio room at $466 just wasn't worth it. Maybe it was the holiday weekend. Staff were awesome though.

Ace Hotel

For $100 a night, this would have been a nice deal. For $300(after the resort charge that I didn't know about until arrival) it's not a good deal at all. I gather it's the hip place to be in PS, but I'll not be going there again. The room was cute and kitchy and comfortable, but the cement floor was filthy.
