Great Getaway

Very reasonably accommodations for the price. It was just a quick getaway but it was easy to find and park at. The rooms were nice and the pool was nice as well. I would say above average accommodations.

Wedding Trip

We came to Palm Desert to get married. Upon check-in we were told we received an upgraded room (but I think it's the one I chose and paid for). We mentioned we were getting married and Ryan at the front desk later sent us a bottle of Champagne. That was a nice touch. The concierge was very helpful in finding a special dinner place and informing us about the happenings around town. The pool was a fun environment, but I wish the slide hours were later/24 hours. The room service was good, but it arrived cold and we had to heat it up in the microwave. And I recognize that these are villas on a big property, but I still wanted service on plates, not in to-go boxes. If I'm paying for food when I already have a full kitchen, it's because I don't want to have to do anything (like transfer to plates and heat it up). The rooms themselves felt plush and luxurious. The staff also came to pick us up anytime we wanted a lift to the pool. With such a big property, that was a much appreciated service. Check out was probably my biggest complaint. After a leisurely wake-up I called the front desk at 10:04 am to inquire about check out time. I was anticipating noon and thought I would try to extend it until 1pm to enjoy the property a bit more. I was told checkout time was 10 am. As I sat there in my PJs with my new wife still in bed at 10:04 I explained I would need an extension. she offered 15 minutes, then 30 minutes, then finally pushed it to 11am as "the best she could do." At least this was enough time to both get showered and packed up. But I hated having to haggle for that time. I also hated feeling rushed when this was supposed to be a special trip. 10 am is way too early for a checkout. At a 4 star place I expected more, and I also expected more in the way of amelioration when I was specifically asking for it. In general this didn't ruin the whole trip, but it certainly left a little taste in my mouth about the Westin. I will probably still be back to stay at Westin's despite this since the property was so beautiful and I enjoyed myself.

The truth

Very nice place and nice pool and I loved everything but the following :- checkout is at 10 not 11 which is ok no big deal , I found about 20 crickets in the room so next time I am getting a room on the upper level , make sure that the address for the hotel is correct because the address listed on online took us 25 min away from the hotel , make sure u call the hotel and get the correct address directly from them . Other than that everything else was lovely

Not pleased

It was very hot/windy weekend and I wasn't able to enjoy the resort amenities. So mainly I stayed inside the room. I was given room with absolutely worst view. (facing construction parking lot). Make sure you ask for room with the golf course or resort view. It was 110 degrees outside so I was not going to go out to balcony, so I did not ask for any room with view. We stayed at top floor (3rd) but the room was very noisy due to a/c vibration from rooftop. I could not sleep and I had to call front desk and ask for another room. They were able to take care of it, but it was very inconvenient to pack and move to another room at midnight. No complimentary upgrade or resort credit was offered. Upon checkout I was asked to pay daily parking cost. I told the front desk guy that website did not mention about the parking and he was able to waived the fees. Even though fee was waived, I was not too happy that they were trying to charge parking cost when there are plenty empty spaces throughout the resort.

Friendliest place in the desert

Great place to stay for a family. Great pools, awesome smoothies, and amazing golf. Great location. Center of everything. Only downfall is a nightly $15 parking fee.

Fantastic stay

Starting with check in and ending 7 days later with departure every thing was great. Gal at check in was super nice, friendly but not fake or pretencious at all. During our stay any and all staff smiled and said hello when they saw us.Our room was great, clean and all the kitchen equip. you need for preparing food there. They also have grilling areas with several grills by each complex. The pool area was clean. They had musice playing but it was at a pleasant level. I've been at other places where the music was loud and you couldn't carry on a conversation. Didn't eat at the restaurant but I'm sure it was good. I had a margarita and it was perfect. The location for getting around greater PS area is very central. Between Hwy 111 and I-10. Casino close if you leant to go. Close to great shopping on El Paseo or the mall. We're already talking about when we go back.

Dining tip: Short drive from hotel

The hotel offers a food tasting tour on El Paseo. They drive you to El Paseo and take you to I think six locations. Our food was very good. A few place it was great. (Clementine's). It gave us good ideas of where we'd like to go and the opportunity to talk with others about places / experiences they'd had and liked.

Excellent all the way around

Great location. Beautiful grounds and buildings. Very helpful concierge. Rented bikes, hiked, walked the area. Loved our 1 bedroom unit with a great view of the golf course. Would definitely consider the Westin Desert Willow if we come back to Palm Desert.

Shopping tip: Short drive from hotel

Bristol Farms grocery store is far better than the Ralph's closer to the resort. Head west on Country Club a few long blocks.

Great option vs the Marriott

I had a conference for 3 days across the way. Used a package to get the room, the flight and my car for the same as the special event pricing offered across the way. I saw the great ratings, but this was even nicer than I expected. The landscaping, golf course, main lobby and other common areas were fantastic. It was also very quiet there, and I was able to sleep with the AC off and the balcony door open. A great experience that I will definitely repeat with my family.
