The perfect getaway

Really enjoyed The Village at Squaw Valley. The best part is that you don't have to get out of the village for anything. Restaurants, stores, snow activities are all in the village. The jacuzzi and sauna were great. Staying at the village also provides underground parking which was very convenient. The one bedroom condo fits 4 people, which was fine, but the sofa bed was super uncomfortable and we couldn't adjust the room temperature. The staff was great, the first room we were assigned had a few glitches when we got there, and they were quick to come and fix as well as give us a different room. Overall it was a nice getaway, I would definitely do it again.

If you don't mind you can bring your own food and cook. The kitchen is well supplied and in case you need something the front desk staff is super helpful bringing you what you need.

Good value for Thanksgiving

We came up here to spend the Thanksgiving holiday with friends in Truckee. The skilifts had just opened, and the play seem to be getting into full swing still. I thought the stuff was helpful and happy that the season was beginning. My only misgivings about giving a higher rating are that our room phone never worked, and they did not fix it during the course of our stay. also the pull out sofa bed in the main room was crazy uncomfortable. I know that manufactures have yet to make a comfortable sofa bed mattress, but it really detracted from The sleeping experience. They could maybe provide air cushions (like the pads you use under your sleeping bag when you camp) to place between the mattress and the people sleeping on it to give less of a sense that there is a spring poking you in the back when you sleep on it. I also had some misinformation from the front desk. When we first arrived we were told to purchase tram tickets from them at a discount. So we didn't purchase them at the station and walked back. Only to find out that the front desk did not have any offers for the aerial tramway after all. So it was a bit of a wasted walk. Other than that, it was a good stay, and for the same price, I would stay again.

Love Tahoe

We had a wonderful time, very nice condo 1 bedroom suite with a great balcony view. My husband loved the underground garage and could imagine how convenient that would have been in the winter snow. Only bad thing was the King size bed mattress was very hard and uncomfortable, not good for sleeping. Overall though we had a terrific 3 day weekend in beautiful Squaw Valley for a very good value.

great location/very comfortable

The Village is very nice, several buildings located in the Village. An upgraded room to see the mountain is very nice and very convenient to the slopes. The only thing is the noise, trucks delivering first thing in the morning to the restaurant/bar below and groomers working on the mountain can wake you up. Very comfortable accommodations/beds, kitchen, living space. TV's are small. Staff is friendly but not very knowledgeable...wrong about times for market, night skiing, better to look up on your own. Food is good, pricey on the mountain like all resorts.

Dining tip: Short walk from hotel

In Village, Rockers, The Pizza Restaurant, Sushi are all good and reasonable for a resort. Soupa is good for soup/lunch, best cookies ever at Wildflower. Fun crafts in the Village - most stores/restaurants close early. 6 for stores/8 :30 for restaurants

Definitely not 4 star

My room was plain, dark, and a long hike to the lifts.. Maid service was slapdash. Watch out for $20 "resort fee" which was not mentioned on web site. They did give me a free late checkout.

Lacking

We rented a 3 bedroom condo for $9k for 7 days. For $9,000 we should not have had the issues listed below. Please note, these issues were not particular to the unit we were in. We were part of a group of 28 people who rented 5 units. All of the issues below were common to all units. 1) the heated floors in the bathrooms did not work 2) there was not a light bulb over 40 watts in the kitchen, living room, or hallway. It was like living in a cave with a candle. We had to use a light on our cell phones to see into the washer and dryer. Two bedrooms each had a single light with low wattage bulbs. 3) the TV picture was unwatchable over 1/2 the time due to fuzzy lines and bars. The rest of the time the picture was fuzzy. We were told there was nothing they could do and to wait and the picture would get better. What? I’ve stayed in similar condos in CO, UT, and WY, and had no issues with TV reception. 4) there were rips in upholstery. 5) internet access was slow. We generally got 1 or 2 out of 5 bars. 6) the dishwashers were terrible! The particular unit we were in also had the following issues: 1) the handles to a bedroom and closet broke 2) a sink drain had to be fixed 3) the TV remote in the living room did not work 4) the handle on the dryer was missing, so you had to open the door by pulling on the sharp sheet metal hole where the handle used to be. 5) a kitchen bar stool was coming apart Our daughter was sick and we needed new sheets one night. They brought new sheets, but they said they did not have any extra mattress pads, and they told us to wash it. Really. Condo management decided that 5am was the right time to clear snow in the village right under condo bedrooms using a front end loader with bright lights that shined into the rooms. Snow removal went on for 30 minutes. Other renters were yelling at them from the balcony. The front desk told me there was nothing they could do about it. Yes the place is close to the lifts. But is that all we should get for $9,000?
