Squaw Valley is a four-season gateway to mountain fun
The sprawling Village at Squaw Valley, at the base of Squaw Valley, helps make the Olympic Valley one of the most-visited sports destinations in the U.S. Guests flock here because of the area's history as host of the VIII Winter Olympic Games and, of course, for the world-class skiing/snowboarding, the hiking and golfing in summer, and relaxation any time at all. The Village features restaurants, shops, art galleries and rock-climbing, plus easy access to mid-mountain swimming lagoon and Olympic Ice Pavilion (open year-round, fees apply).
Highlights
- Ski in/out in style
- 40 miles from Nevada casinos
- Summer hiking and biking paradise
- 8 hot tubs

Lacking
We rented a 3 bedroom condo for $9k for 7 days. For $9,000 we should not have had the issues listed below. Please note, these issues were not particular to the unit we were in. We were part of a group of 28 people who rented 5 units. All of the issues below were common to all units. 1) the heated floors in the bathrooms did not work 2) there was not a light bulb over 40 watts in the kitchen, living room, or hallway. It was like living in a cave with a candle. We had to use a light on our cell phones to see into the washer and dryer. Two bedrooms each had a single light with low wattage bulbs. 3) the TV picture was unwatchable over 1/2 the time due to fuzzy lines and bars. The rest of the time the picture was fuzzy. We were told there was nothing they could do and to wait and the picture would get better. What? Iāve stayed in similar condos in CO, UT, and WY, and had no issues with TV reception. 4) there were rips in upholstery. 5) internet access was slow. We generally got 1 or 2 out of 5 bars. 6) the dishwashers were terrible! The particular unit we were in also had the following issues: 1) the handles to a bedroom and closet broke 2) a sink drain had to be fixed 3) the TV remote in the living room did not work 4) the handle on the dryer was missing, so you had to open the door by pulling on the sharp sheet metal hole where the handle used to be. 5) a kitchen bar stool was coming apart Our daughter was sick and we needed new sheets one night. They brought new sheets, but they said they did not have any extra mattress pads, and they told us to wash it. Really. Condo management decided that 5am was the right time to clear snow in the village right under condo bedrooms using a front end loader with bright lights that shined into the rooms. Snow removal went on for 30 minutes. Other renters were yelling at them from the balcony. The front desk told me there was nothing they could do about it. Yes the place is close to the lifts. But is that all we should get for $9,000?

Beautiful Area
The area is breathtaking! The hotel has very nice sized rooms...very quiet while we were there in down season.... our room overlooked the parking lot...the view was beautiful upon driving in. It was nice... we wished that the ride to the top of the mountain would have been running during our stay and was not...some of the shops etc. were closed. Alice's little store has so many great things and she is very special! We really enjoyed the beautiful area! The room was very large...loved the ability to cook... very nice stay!

Pretty good
Good location, good amenities. It just took a little long to get paper kitchen towel. Other than that, it was a pretty good stay.

GREAT!
Off season and we loved it. Not everyone would. We were there the week before Memorial Day. Hotel service was not much and very few shops were open but it was great. So quiet and beautiful. Great value. Off season is for the the person who does not want to handle your own bags, park your own car. The rate made up for it. Room was clean and serviced everyday. I think there was only 3 other rooms rented in the building. Fishing was great in the area. Lake Tahoe was nice. Weather was strange. It snowed the day we left and it was the end of May.
