Squaw Valley is a four-season gateway to mountain fun

The sprawling Village at Squaw Valley, at the base of Squaw Valley, helps make the Olympic Valley one of the most-visited sports destinations in the U.S. Guests flock here because of the area's history as host of the VIII Winter Olympic Games and, of course, for the world-class skiing/snowboarding, the hiking and golfing in summer, and relaxation any time at all. The Village features restaurants, shops, art galleries and rock-climbing, plus easy access to mid-mountain swimming lagoon and Olympic Ice Pavilion (open year-round, fees apply).

Highlights
  • Ski in/out in style
  • 40 miles from Nevada casinos
  • Summer hiking and biking paradise

Good place to stay if being in Squaw is an important factor.

Nice place to stay, but keep in mind these are condos and not a tradional hotel. Maids would replenish coffee some days and not on others. Bed do not get made. Front desk should have better specified the services while staying there as everything was ambigous. I would reccommend this if you can get a deal.

Disappointing

The suite was roomy enough but the bed was like sleeping on the floor. The unit was not clean and the carpets were in need of a good scrub. There is no air conditioning which was fine for me but others might request air in the summer.

Acceptable digs

The room decor is modern. Check-in and parking are easy and convenient. I called twice over two days to get the frigid "hot tub" fixed. The clerk said it would be fixed immediately, but it was still busted two days later. Our room had an odd fishy smell (perhaps they left the refrigerator unplugged over the summer?). Access to ski lifts is very convenient. Internet is hard-wired, in not-convenient locations. Hard to get luggage in and out of room given severe lack of luggage carts.

Excellent Property and Location

The location is incredible. We were right at the foot of all of the Village activities. Gondola, food, nightlife, etc. You park your car and never need it again.

Great location

Room was small, but clean. No A/C, just a portable fan. So first night we roasted, til we put fan up on a chair in front of window. They have a great big spa overlooking mountains. I had made a crib request on orbits, but staff never brought one or even asked us. We thought the room rate was great, but after our 3 night stay were charged an additional $40 in fees?? Lots of awesome shopping and food right there!! Firepits at night to hang out near on chilly nights. I was impressed with the vegan/vegatarian food options!! But also lots of meat lover options.
